I have created a functional 3D printed Front Trunk. This is the very first version and still has a lot of refinement to do to get it to something approaching acceptable.
Hope people find this interesting.
It cannot store a Type 2 Cable as the thickness of it cannot bend to fit the space available.
It does fit the normal home charger cable.
It was printed in PETG and took me about 1 week all up. While PETG has some temperature resistance above that of PLA, I will look to ABS/ASA for better temperature handling as ABS/ASA can go a high as 100 Deg C before deforming.
I have uploaded a video talking about it on youtube, but forgot to get the URL link just search for MG4 or Frunk.

Looks amazing.

Curious do you have a 1 Phase type 2?
I have both a 1 and 3 phase cables and the 1 phase is much more flexible than the 3.

Yes, I do have the Type 2 cable and agree its a lot thicker and thus makes it difficult to store for what I have designed, but I am looking to see if both halves can be modified to allow for the cable to sit atop.

You've misunderstood ... all AC cables that plug into the car are Type 2, as that is the standard for the connection (plug and socket). The question was whether you have a 1- or 3-phase cable ... 1-phase cables are usually a lot thinner than 3-phase ones, and thus are more flexible.

Whether yours is 1- or 3-phase will be printed on the cable itself. :)

If you cannot sed any text on the cable, an easy way into look at the end and if L2 and L3 have metal in them it is more that likely a 1 phase cable. L1 will have something in it.

There is a type 2 (AKA Level 2) cable to charge at public chargers where you supply the cable to connect. This cable has the same plug on either end (as mystreet has shown) and is about 2m in length and is quite thick.

Here is version 2 which can store both the trickle charger and a Type 2 cable. It is held together with M3 by 8mm and 10 mm screws.
There is even some spare space for other things.
The object takes at least 4 days to 3D print even though I have 2 big printers (Anycubic Kobra 3 Max) to help, so if you only have one then be prepared to wait a week at least to print all of it. Will soon post the STL files on a website for all to grab and make there own or send to a 3D print manufacturer like PCBWay.
