A wireless carplay adaptor that actually seems to work reliably?!

I've a Carlinkit 5.0 and it works without any issues on android auto except the usb port seems to always be powered when the car is locked.
Anyone experienced this?
I think there's some type of timer on the power to the usb. Mine sometimes doesn't reconnect to the adaptor for a while if I just jump out of the car for a few minutes and back in.
Quickly pulling the adaptor and plugging back in gets it back immediately.

I’m finding that when using google maps, after about 30 minutes, the head unit reverts to the main screen and I cannot get CarPlay back unless I unplug the adapter and re-insert though the audio navigation commands still work as if CarPlay is connected.
This only happens when using the wireless charging shelf though; if the phone stays in my pocket, it doesn’t cut out.
Happens every time I use the charging shelf and with two different iPhones, a XS and 14 model. Sort of negates the usefulness of a wireless setup so for journeys longer than my commute, I still need to go wired; plus the phone shifts on the shelf so cannot guarantee it is constantly charging which also might be causing a conflict somewhere in the setup.

Perhaps someone more expert than I can direct me? I have a wireless android auto car play adapter (Wireless Carplay Adapter Android Auto Wireless Smart Dongle 2 in1 für Volvo Benz Audi Kia Hyundai VW Mazda Cadillac mg Peugeot - AliExpress 34) which I am trying to get to grips with (BTW I have Android 11 on my phone). The English/Chinese instructions are not entirely clear. Prior to starting I unpaired my phone from the car and forgot the MG from my WiFi history. I then plugged the adapter into the USB socket (LHS) and the car screen shows the Android Auto icon along with Car Play. I selected AA and the AA screen shows up with the phone immediately connected to the adapter's WiFi, asking for the password. I then connect to the adapter BT following the pairing request. All seems good with the touchscreen responding extremely fast and responding to voice commands. Then....I notice that the BT connection has stopped and that the phone has reconnected to MG and when I try to connect to the adapter BT it won't connect. However I try to unpair the car it still overrides somehow. Maybe not a problem as the phone seems to interact with the car screen via AA pretty well. What I want to do is access the settings to enable a delay on start up - using EDGE or CHROME on the phone with WiFi connected goes nowhere when I enter the adapter address 192.168.200.1. Any ideas where I'm going wrong - I'll keep trying and give an update when/if I get it all working 100%

I finally got fed up with me and the missus trying to use wired, she on lighting and I have usb-c, mostly hers works but mine is hit and miss, probably the better way around.

I think I am going to gamble on the Lyssiefeel Wireless Carplay after reading the info here, I'm assuming if only one of us gets in the car it connects to the phone in range, but if we are both in the car and it connects to the wrong one then we just turnoff bluetooth and let it switch over?

Many of these adapters look the same - perhaps just different branding or boxes. I bought this one Wireless Carplay Adapter Android Auto Wireless Smart Dongle 2 in1 für Volvo Benz Audi Kia Hyundai VW Mazda Cadillac mg Peugeot - AliExpress 34 - just checking and see that the price has crashed considerably since I bought it!!!

When it works it works well but it seems a little temperamental. First thing in the am it connects immediately but if I get out of the car, lock it or not, it doesn't generally reconnect. It might do after a while or if I remove the adapter and re-insert.

How do I go about setting a 30 second delay? Once connected by WiFi I go to the browser and enter 192.168.200.1 but it just returns search results rather than connecting to the address. Do I need to have BT connected at the same time OR is there an MG EV setting to allow connection to the adapter? Feeling a little lost at the moment.

I wonder if I have installed correctly as the tiny instructions tell me to UNPAIR BT connections (which ones - all of them or just the active ones) before initial installation. Don't think I did this - can I now go back to the start by UNPAIRING the adapter somehow?

Bought the AAWireless TWO dongle to use with my MG4 Trophy and Android Auto (Pixel 7a). (Carplay compatible AAWireless TWO+ being released soon). One of the more expensive dongles at £54 but it just works flawlessly. Has a button to press to switch between phones and for pairing. Will automatically connect to previous conected phone. Excellent app - can update firmware and set the actions for the button. No need to set a delay.
