I've noticed if I drive on motorway at 70 mph and use the ACC and then use the brake to slow down, the battery will shut down. I recieve a fault and need to pull over. Shut the car down and restart and it works again. Is this a common fault or is there something I'm doing wrong?

It's a fault. Not common but get it booked in.
Make a note of exactly how and when it happens and what you were doing at the time. Get a passenger to film it on their phone if possible so if the garage can't reproduce the fault they see exactly what is happening.
