Hi all, I've had a look on the forums and can see some posts on the forum about noisy air con, but not quite the same.

Just picked my MG5 (2021, PFL) from it's first service at the local MG dealer. Had the air con 'refreshed' as part of it as I noticed it wasn't cooling much in our recent hot weather.

On the drive home, I noticed that there was a noise like a lawnmower going. It sounds like it's speeding up/ working harder when the car is moving, then dulls down into a lower pitch when stood still, but still there. Pretty sure it's to do with the air con as it seemed to stop when I turned AC off (though I need to go out for a drive later when it's a bit quieter as it was hard to tell in loud traffic).

I have zero car knowledge, and even less about EVs, it's all new to me. I'm planning to call the garage tomorrow, but thought I'd consult some more knowledgeable people so I can go into the convo armed. Three questions really;
Is this something to be expected after a regas?
Is it normal and I've just someone never noticed before?
Is it anything concerning, beyond a slightly annoyance?

If it's of any importance, the air con did seem to be blowing out cool air, so it's not totally caput. Though annoyingly not much cooler than when it went in.

Appreciate any help or advice!

Doesn't sound normal to me. Best taking it back.
Is your 4 year old really on its first service?

Oh, sorry - I got it second hand in October, it's an ex-lease car. Though it had an admittedly spotty service record with purchase. Luckily the only thing found on the service was a missing wheel bolt they are ordering in for £1.28 - so I was pretty happy before this noise!

Definitely not normal. It is possible that they replaced the filter and got something stuck behind it that is catching the fan. Does the sound seem like it is coming from behind the glove box?
Either way I'd take it back and get them to have a listen.
