What I find quite annoying is this option of "selecting the air stream" from the image of the dashboard area.

I think disabling "air stream selection" and leaving only the circular buttons working (that are at the side) for selection would turn it into a very nice and slick looking menu. Too many times I've turned footwell ON or OFF instead of turning fan speed up or down.

It is true I have a very ancient infotainment software...was this fixed / improved in later versions?

The HVAC display in the later software is very easy to use, and selecting vents is very clear.

Which software do you have? 1300R33?

Yes you have the "old" HVAC screen, so do I and I like it a lot more than the 1980's child's computer HAVC screen that they changed it to.

TBH I prefer the 80's child's computer screen version, especially in Dark theme.
