All season tyre choices

While you were tapping away, I was just perusing Black Circles and found some.

But I'm confused by the tyre data. Is it an improvement on CC2?

If it's 'not recommended' and you have an accident you might find that you are uninsured. It's not about snow it's about ice too. MG4s are RWD. If you have the rear wheels 'pushing' you into a corner and the front wheels lose grip no amount of extra grip at the rear is going to help you. I live in the North East, we have snow every year and I have a set of winter wheels I put on at the end of October every year. When I had a Saab 9-3 I could get up snowy hills that 4x4s (with normal tyres) couldn't get up. My driving instructor told me (50 years ago) 'no slower than 20 - no faster than 30'
It isn't an insurance issue.

It’s not ideal to have different tyres on a car, but it’s not illegal.

In a perfect world all tyres are the same and the same age, in a realistic world tyres on the same axle are the same and roughly the same age, and sometimes you have a puncture and the age isn’t the same. Then sometimes life is hard and you end up with different tyres on the same axle. Still not illegal.

See Regulation 26 of The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986.

Edited for clarity.

I've just checked the Michelin website and they don't have my size for the ER, hey ho😏🤔
I emailed Michelin about ER tyres. Impressed to get a response within 30 minutes. The relevant bit reads:

“We checked our commercial catalogue. We do not have Crossclimate 3 in size 235/45 R18 98W. Whether or not we will produce the desired size and index is unfortunately not known at this moment, as it depends on commercial decisions.”

I interpret this as: If we do decide to make them, it ain’t gonna be any time soon.

I posted the following on the 'MG4 tyres' thread:
"I have chosen Michelin cross climates for the rear for now, but advised by Express Tyres to fit the same on the front before winter as it will be safer, so that’s the plan. Spreading the cost over a few months 😏🙂"
I trust their opinion and have known them well for along time now.
Approaching 11000 miles now.

I can confirm that Michelin CCs are indeed a good choice for the MG4, quiet with loads of grip.

I have CC2s on the rears, the original summer tyres on the fronts. Grip and traction much better, almost no wheelspin ever, which is a big difference. I'll put CC2s on the front soon, just waiting for the fronts to wear down a bit more.

I'm sure you will be thrilled with them.

And if we ever get any white stuff, they are brilliant in that too.

We were up and running where other cars were just floundering.

Looking to put all season tyres on my MG5S EV. I can get Goodyear Vector 4 Gen 3 tyres for £120 a corner fitted from Costco. They are B & B rated for energy and wet weather performance. Looks to be a very good deal for what appears to be a decent tyre. Has anyone on here had experience of these tyres?

TIA

Hi Dario, no I haven't. Does this include all the sundries, eg valves, balancing...VAT🤔🙂

Just checked my local National Tyre. £132.59 each all in for 4 including a 15% discount.

So if that £120 is all in, that's very good.

It was highly recommended by tyre reviews a short while back.
