Android Auto and Bluetooth

I connected my phone with the USB cable and have the pre-production android auto up. Just tried to call someone and it dials the contact from the Android Auto screen but is not connected to the speakers. It said on the screen the phone is not connected by Bluetooth. Surely the whole point of android auto is that you do not need bluetooth. Could someone please switch off your Bluetooth from the phone and see if you can make a call from android auto and have the car speaker and mic work with it. Thanks

No ... AA requires Bluetooth connectivity for the phone calls. It always has.
