Can anyone recommend a Android Auto wireless adapter that works with a MG ZS 69 plate as I've tried one and it only connected calls? Thank you

I dont know how other dongles work, but i can tell you my experience with the AA Wireless.

Positives : Works great, connects fine and so on.

Negatives : The car wakes up at relevant intervals, which powers on the USB port, powering up the AA, this makes the car power up bluetooth which means the phone connects to Bluetooth, even tough i am inside my kitchen.

VERY annoying to the point where i have pondered about taking the car apart, and adding a relay, that is only energized when the green LED in start button is active.

I dont know how other brands of dongles work, but with AA Wireless that's my experience.

Have tried different "mitigation" settings in their app, but never found one that makes this problem go away.

The car will for example wake up and power the USB socket, if the car starts charging, stops charging or various other situations unknown to me.

I have a feeling it does it also, if someone pings it with the app, and i have the ZS EV in Home Assistant, so it might be, that the reason i have these problems is, Home Assistant pinging the car regularly for updates.

@hmadsen I'm using AAWireless Two, in my experience it only starts the AA dongle connections, not the one from the car. You can go into settings (app on phone) and change when and how it connects, especially handy for cars where the usb power always stays on. I set mine to only connect to AAWireless when also the Bluetooth connection of the MG itself comes online as an indicator the car is actually started. With the AAW Two there is also a button, I think its possible to set it where it only starts after pressing the button, not sure tho.

There are a few "compatibility" settings in AAWireless, but i have tried them all, alone or in conjunction with other settings, i think i tried all combinations and i never found one that worked better than no compatibility settings.

It has come to a point where i was considering taking the car apart, attaching a small relay to the green LED in the "start" button and making it so that the USB power in the USB-A socket would only be connected if the green light was on.

Car is still less than a year though, so to be honest i dont REALLY fancy, having to take it apart and start to chop wires and add a small circuitry, i bet, if something was to break under warranty and they found my small circuit, the circuit would 100% be the reason the part that broke, broke...Even if it was a wheel bearing.

And are you using version One or Two? So strange, for me it works perfect, the car is sitting just 4 meters away from my living room. (ZS MK1). You also updated the AAW to the latest firmware I assume?

Yes it is updated to latest, mine is the 2.gen so maybe there is a difference in when the USB port is powered on.
