I can see that there are a lot of threads about android auto wireless adaptors but I haven't found a solution to my problem.

I have a late 2023 MG4 Trophy and, although Android Auto works fine with a cable, I have been trying to get a wireless adaptor to work for a few weeks now' I have tried a number of different units (Ottocast, Carlink and a number of others from Amazon). I find that I can connect my phone to the adaptors by bluetooth and wifi but the adaptor only shows a wifi connection without internet. The devices show that they are trying to connect to android auto but it never happens. I have tried removing all devices before trying to connect, restaring my phone, resetting the infotainment system to default, updating the firmware and setting a delay. All to no effect.

Can anyone suggest anything I should be doing?

I had issues after setting something up on my car, reset the system, rebooted the phone, deleted and reinstalled AA, turned off the WiFi hotspot on the car. Then plugged the phone into the data port in the car, AA started and was fine. Unplugged the phone and it was still working, and still is.

I've never needed an adaptor - not sure what it offers other than another link in the chain.

What phone do you have?

I have a Samsung Galaxy with android 12. I want to get an adaptor to work because I don't want to have to keep on plugging in my phone.

Mine just sits in the charging tray, or is in my pocket - no adapter needed for it to connect wirelessly.
This is the MG4 (2022-2025) board, so no native wireless AA/CP here. :)

@plrow have you set your wireless adaptor with a start-up delay? (I have mine set for 30s). This allows the Infotainment to properly boot up before the wireless AA/CP device presents itself .. almost all such issues are caused by the car, not the wireless device or phone.

Yes, I have tried setting a delay.
