Anyone in Australia got a wireless CarPlay adapter working?

Ok not in Australia but UK. I have a Carlinkit 2CA (4?) I think. Could never get it to work every time. Someone suggested going on to the adapter web page / IP address and delaying startup by 30 seconds. Now it works every time. I suppose the theory is it lets the car get it s**t in one sock before starting up.
Hope this helps👍

Hi @ians63 - can I check is it Apple and is your phone also Bluetooth connected to the car system (or is it connected via CarPlay Bluetooth only)?

I got a 2Air (5) working with a firmware upgrade and a couple of configuration setting changes. Great support from CarlinKit.
Please could you share the settings? I took delivery of my MG4 XPOWER on Sunday, transferred the 2Air (5) from my Nissan leaf (which worked perfectly) but having connection issues, dropouts, takes ages to connect, black screen etc.

Hey - I'd drop an email to [email protected] with details of what you are experiencing. They will guide you through the process. I dealt with a guy called Kris. Good luck.

Haven’t heard from them yet but managed to alter several settings and got it working much more reliably. For anyone interested…

Well done! I did all of these but they sent me a firmware version which was nothing like that in #1. The website is Troubleshooting Guide for Carlinkit 5.0 (2air) Connectivity Issues.:

The feedback process if needed:

I had issues with getting a cheap RGB CarPlay dongle from Ali Express up and running with my Xpower (albeit in the UK).

As other have seen, I’ve had to use a quality cable, and change the configuration for the dongle to add a delay before booting to 40 seconds to give the car time to boot up and get to ready mode before the dongle got ahead of itself.

Yes I suspect the 20s delayed start setting was the one that made the difference in mine!

Anyone in Australia got a wireless CarPlay adapter working (without the need to unplug each time) with an MG4? If so what make/model of adapter?
Look around on line for a USB cable that will switch off and on the car play dongle but it must be a data cable not just a charge cable.
Or save yourself a lot of time and headaches and have one fitted by the shop specialist and installers.
Good luck, geriatric Joe.
Gold coast Australia.

I bought an ottocast U2 X and it works well. However, struggling to find where I'm supposed to enter those settings numbers into a browser whilst connected to adjust the delay start to 20 seconds. I use a Samsung S20 Galaxy and the videos seem to be iPhone so don't make much sense to me. Anyone know?

Not in Australia but could still do with some help with Carlinkit.

Have purchased a 3.0 mini version. Worked fine for a few days but now constantly connects and disconnects immediately with CarPlay briefly showing active on my phone but not on the car’s display.

The display instead reverts to the connecting page and the process repeats.

The settings page of the Carlinkit shows a brief wifi connection too each time.

Have tried resetting the device, updating the firmware, restarting my phone, plugging the device in and out of the USB port, unpairing and repairing, deleting the connections from the device and my phone plus the CarPlay profile, setting a delay start, changing the device wifi bands and from 5Ghz to 2.4, trying in a rural area so no interference, not having my phone connected to the car via Bluetooth.

Very frustrating especially as it worked for a while but then stopped. All the above testing took a bit of time!

If I connect the phone via wifi with Bluetooth off, the wifi is stable so I can access the Carlinkit settings page.

IPhone XS iOS 15.6.1 if that helps. R40 car software.

CarPlay is stable over a wired connection. When it finally connects (now about 1 out of 50 attempts) CarPlay seems fine via the device.

Any ideas on what else I can try before returning the device?

Have a few days left to do this without quibble. Don’t want to update iOS. Runs fine at the moment on my slightly older device.

Might get a Carlinkit 5.0 to try that instead. Anyone have that working consistently with an iPhone?

Thanks.

I have a sealed Carlinkit 5.0 that I'm not going to use if your interested ?

Thanks for the offer but I’ll probably return via Amazon and purchase again from there so I can return it easily if that doesn’t work either. Or get a 4.0 version.

Still hopeful someone might have an idea why the 3.0 doesn’t work given all the troubleshooting I’ve already done.
