People often come to a forum for information (sometimes before purchasing) but also to get help with issues they have. This can sometimes give the impression that there are lots of problems when, in fact, happy owners, just get on and enjoy their cars without feeling any need to discuss them. Which leaves a disproportionately large proportion of threads posted here being about problems. So let's ask the question.

Are you enjoying your MG4?
Yes I am really enjoying my MG4 it is such a joy to drive. I really appreciate features like the 360deg camera being a great aid in parking, the blind spot protection, the rear crossing pedestrian or traffic alert when reversing, the automatic emergency stop which saved me from shunting the car front at a traffic light controlled roundabout, I thought he was going to go through on the amber, he didn't!
I like the way we can just trickle through traffic jams without the old problem of putting the car in or out of gear or riding the clutch, or the need for handbrake control on slopes. The no hesitation acceleration which can get you out of problems when overtaking or approaching converging lanes.
I love it, it reminds me of my old motorcycle days when we would go for ride outs just for the pleasure of doing it, now I am feeling the same way about my MG.

Love our MG4 but a bit disappointed that MG Australia don't appear to do an update for the LKA problem as a matter of course, at the first service, they are saying I'll have to pay for it @$300 /half hour.
But I'll see what actually happens at the service.

Looks like MG dealers the world over are a total mixed bag, look for another dealer

Great idea, but there isn't another for thousands of Kms!
And I think it comes from MG Australia, so where do you think I should go?

I'm really enjoying my MG4 Trophy Long Range....but only since they fixed Lane Kill Assist and ACC. I had to endure 2 years of an awful product but now it's real fun to drive. My early experience has put me off buying another new model MG and the poor aftersales experience from the local franchised dealer (I'm prepared to accept that it hasn't ALL been their fault) has put me off buying another MG EV. That said, is there another EV that is as much fun to drive?

I'm still very happy with my poverty pack MG4 ..... having to peel the charge door cover off so I could get the charge door open and the cover for the tow hook point in the front bumper falling off without telling me so I could pick it up, have been about the only things of note ... although, the lock pin for the charging door has also jumped ship and the charge door open light is on all the time now .... 1st world problems as I see it, as a fun and reliable vehicle, it is great value for money .... love the zip out of a corner or when pulling out to overtake, the cost of refilling the tank is great as well ......

In the original reviews of the competition, including Renaults, VWs, Skodas etc... MG4 was deemed to be more fun than most, but beaten by the Cupra Born.

However, that is 4 years ago, so all depends on what improvements have been made and the new models (like Kia EVXX) that have come out since.

It's my experience that MGs tend to drive better than most, which is what most reviewers seem to say, but they are not so good on ride quality and noise. None of that makes MGs any kind of sports car, we have yet to see anything that would compete with a Porsche or Lotus or similar.

Apparently Renault 5/Alpine pretty good in the handling/fun stakes. Cupra Raval looks promising. Not sure that many more smallish EVs would be more fun than the MG4. Particularly price wise. 🙂👍

We were talking RWD, those are FWD, but it doesn't mean they aren't fun. Fun isn't exactly the same as good handling either.

Ah, stand corrected. 🙂👍
So what other smallish RWD EVs are there? That handle as well as the MG4, for the price. 🤔

Cupra Born - At that discount it seems the bottom must have dropped out of their market?
My cousin has one but he complains about the lack of mechanical switches

........ It would have been BMW once, but they seem to love SUVs over £60k these days!
Yes - my son has an absurdly loud and expensive one !!!

They are doing similar to MG a new facelift Born is coming soon, so older stock are getting good deals.
Same complaints as the first edition mg4 re physical switches

Depending on what he means: the early Borns had touch sensitive pads on the steering wheel which people found finicky (whereas MG4 always had proper buttons), but Cupra fixed this a while back IIRC.

Many people complain about the lack of physical buttons on the dash and thankfully most makers are putting more in, including MG.
