Why are the auto lights on my MG5 LR PFL the first to go off travelling to work on the motorway and the last to come on on my journey home compared with every other car?
My MG5 SR PFL however turns the lights on even if it's overcast and rarely turns them off again.

My MG 5 LR PFL is exactly the same. It's dangerous to be the only car without lights on. If I'm driving at dusk or dawn I always put them on manually.

My MG5 LR is pretty good at turning on the lights at the right level of darkness.
If they don't come on early enough it might be an issue at the rear as your back lights won't be on but you're probably blinding oncoming traffic with the DRL's rather than not being seen.

I tried the auto lights again yesterday evening to see when they came on. They did almost 30 'flashes' were they tried to come on and went off again instantly. They finally stayed on as I went through a short bridge.

I've driven my MG5 when it's so dark, it's hard to see going under bridges and dense trees.

Still those damn light don't come on; it has to be very dark.

Where do I need to stick some tinting to help it along?

i wonder if this is just unit varience of the cameras used for the auto lighting, as mine always comes on exactly when id turn them on myself, same with turning off. ive only had it misbehave once where it was very cloudy with blips of sunlight and it kept turning them on and off every time i went through a bip of light 🤔
i dont think the thermostor in the little bulb on the dash is to do with the lighting system though, as mine refuses to work if my front cameras iced over.
