Hi all,

Werid things are going on with my central locking.

The autolock when pulling away sometimes locks then imediatley unlocks, has happened a couple of times now, i can relock it by pushing the lock button and it stays locked.

And at times, pulling up and switching the car off and the rear right door is locked, not checked the others, I use this door to get the dogs out, pushing the button on the front door handle unlocks the doors.

Any views ?

Pete.

That sounds weird. I have had the odd issue where it doesn't autolock until about 20mph, but no other issues, Sounds like a software problem somewhere?

Just a thought have you tried the spare remote for the car sometimes low battery on the remote could cause the autolock to malfunction? Try that first . failing that could be a dealership check for body control module check ?

It's worth trying the other remote just to see , I didn't mean the cars 12 volt battery? Incase you were thinking that ? Failing that it's new so could just require a 12 volt battery reset. Warranty

Non, I know you meant the keyfob battery.
Being keyless entry, I do keep the key in my left pocket, being a LHD maybe I should change pockets

Have you double checked the tailgate is closed properly have to give it a good slam to close it, if it's not closed properly autolock won't work ?

I've had a couple of incidents when the auto lock didn't function, with nothing showing on the screen about open doors or boot. I've usually solved it by opening and closing the last door to be used. I must say that these odd little foibles of the MG3 don't bother me in the least. This little motor is the Bee's Knees; and I've driven quite a variety of makes during my 50+ years of motoring to know the difference. I suppose when you've driven and maintained 'bangers' as part of your early years of driving, we 'old uns' are not as finicky about the quirks of modern cars. Aitch

Quite agree Aitch 1 about driving and maintaining bangers, in my early years of motoring I used to carry more tools than luggage on holiday, modern cars are brilliant compared to cars 50 years ago, they just have different problems mainly software

50 years ago cars were easier to fix , compared to new cars electronics and all that stuff more expensive for a fix on modern cars?
Quite agree cars 50 years ago were easier to fix but I wouldn't like having to change the contact breakers every 6 .months or greasing the suspension every 3000 miles i prefer now just to get in and drive it between services

My thoughts exactly. Much nicer to have no, (or few), worries about maintaining your car.
