Balance is crucial?

I have an mg4 bought in Spain where it is called luxury, it's the long range and with the extra bells and whistles.
I virtually always charge it at home at around 2.2 kw but am off on a 3000km tour to and around UK.
Do l need to condition the battery for normal at home use? And on the long trip?

Not in my opinion assuming you have previously charged it to 100%.

Don't worry about it - charge it to 100% before you leave and if you can find an overnight AC charger at some point on your trip take the opportunity to do an overnight balance charge whenever you can.

AC charging is normally cheaper than rapid DC CCS so make sure you have a suitable type 2 lead with you as the AC chargers don't have the lead.

the only advice I will give you (although I never went on a long EV drive and being a new EV driver myself) is to make sure to have 2 or 3 different apps that show charging points in Europe and UK and to use Google maps for navigation. I have ZapMap, Tesla and Electroverse (all free, not sure if you can charge at Tesla, check before you go)

Setup payment methods for all of them so that you are not stranded somewhere...

Main bit of advice - as soon as you see 30% charge left, start looking for a charger. Don't worry about slow/fast charge whilst on holiday. Enjoy
