I've just bought a 2023 MG4, and it's being a bit picky about charging from our Tesla Wall Connector charge points. We've been using these for years with a Tesla Model S and an MG ZS EV, so I'm confident that there's no problem with the charge points, it's just some handshaking inconsistency between charge point and car.

So I've decided that it's probably time for a change of charge point. Can anyone recommend good unit(s) for these requirements:

1) Known good compatibility with 2020 MG ZS EV and 2023 MG4.
2) Tethered cables.
3) Ability to load balance a single 7kW supply across two (or maybe three, later) cars, either one unit with multiple connections or multiple units with a link cable, as with the current pair of Tesla units.
4) Compatibility with time-of-use tariffs, especially Octopus Intelligent.
5) Preferably good smartphone integration of some sort.

I use british gas , Low overnight rate of 3.9 p per kw/h and I got 6 months free charging when I bought an EO mini pro through Hive.
They've also partnered with Zapmap and you get £20 credit when you sign up .
The Hive app is really good and the charger hasn't put a foot wrong in 8 months of ownership .
I don't know anything about load balancing I'm afraid .

We have an Ohme Pro, works for my XPower and the wife's Mini Electric. IT has a CT clamp on the incoming supply for the house to load balance. Ohme have a database of cars and use that to limit charge rates, they also have an easy pulldown to switch between vehicles.

Lots of scheduling and tariff options avilable with the Ohme and I think it supports the Octopus tariffs (we are not with them) we have told it our tariff times/rates and just use it in a basic mode to only charge below a certain p/kWh rate

My EO Mini Pro is also still working but it's no longer a supported product so it only works as a dumb charger. EO dropping products after just a few years is something to be aware of...

Zappi here - integrates well with Intelligent Octopus Go.

Very good customer service from Myenergi who sent out an engineer to replace a faulty one at 3 months old very quickly, despite the original being fitted by my electrician.

That's interesting , How old is yours ? Who is is not supported by ? as mine is fully supported through Hive (8 months old)

I had my Mini Pro installed back in 2019. A few years later EO disconnected the servers the unit attaches to in order to provide 'smart' functions and stopped supporting the thing. It reverted to a dumb charger, still works but there's no way to control it and it no longer provides any stats.
If yours was installed after 2021, it's probably a Mini Pro 2 which is a different animal and still supported afaik.

The problem is none of the above will satisfy your requirement 3). I'd do more investigation into why the Tesla unit isn't working properly. The relative investment in a new charger to the payback is huge.

There is a growing market for a controller that can be set up easily to programme Solar / Battery / Grid/ Car. Needs easy profiles to set different conditions. There would appear to be appropriate knowledge and experience in the forum. I wonder if an approach by a suitable person to myenergy would prove beneficial?
