Just got my Trophy and am trying to bind the car to the app. I've registered on the app , am I right thinking the first thing I need to do is login to my account on the car by scanning a QR code on the user screen? The problem is the car isn't displaying a QR code on the user screen but I think it should do?
This is a screenshot of a YouTube video I've seen showing a QR code

And this is what it looks like on my car screen

As you can see there is no QR code displayed.
Anyway do you have to do this step before you can bind the car to the app which I assume is a separate QR code somewhere? Haven't found that one yet....

Bit confused right now what I need to do

Cheers

What's the difference between the scan that comes up in the profile area of the app when you click on the scan button and the add vehicle area in vehicle management? Are they separate things that require different QR codes on the car screen?
Scan in my profile area:-

How is that different to the add vehicle in vehicle management?

That option and the one in the car are essentially the same thing - they want you to scan the QR code from the car to add it (bind it) to your MG account. The important bit is finding the right QR code - that's what my earlier link is about. :)

Did the car have a previous owner?
No it's brand new.
Anyway I've sussed it out but blimey they don't make life easy do they. When I went to the user screen on the car it came up with a message saying 'vehicle not activated, please activate first' which no doubt explained why it wasn't showing a QR code to scan. Anyway somewhere in the menus I found an activate button , in there were 2 options , certificate and something else , clicked on both of those and thankfully it seemed to work and activate the car and the QR code then appeared for me to scan in the app and it's now paired up. That really wasn't as easy as it should have been though and surely the dealer should be activated the car prior to delivery....

For any imminent new owners reading this get the salesman to set it up for you on collection 👍. Just download and register on the ISMART app before collection.

Same with phone connection and Applecarplay/AA. Then if there’s a fault you can threaten to refuse delivery until sorted. Believe me they will get it sorted a lot quicker then, than if you go back next day 🙂

I did it all myself when I was checking over the car (having first done lots of research/YouTube watching, and having already downloaded the app and created an account) ... when the "specialist" came to the car to help me he said "You don't really need me, do you?" 🤣

In my case the car was delivered to my house , it's a Zenith lease vehicle. I said I'd sort the binding out myself so it was my own fault really although I'm not sure the delivery bloke would have necessarily known what to do anyway. Anyway sorted now. Next thing to resolve is the Sat Nav that says it needs authorising or something but I haven't worked out how to do that yet , says you do it in settings but there's nothing obvious. I'll do some more googling...
