Boot won't lock

I can't lock my boot. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Move the key away from the boot and check it, it will always unlock if the key is in range.

How are you checking this? Are you locking the car then trying to open the boot ... whilst the key fob is still in your pocket?

Ditto above. The boot will always appear unlocked if you have the key with you.
