Car scanner MG4 Trophy LR

Has anyone got car scanner working with their 4?

I am thinking it is a profile or app setting issue.

I had it working fine on my ol MG5 Trophy.

PS if anyone can suggest another free app happy to give it a try.

Last time I used it (a while ago) Car Scanner was working fine with my MG4. In fact it worked so well that I was happy to pay for the app.

What OBD adapter are you using?
Have you selected the MG4 profile in Car Scanner?
If you look in Car Scanner at Adapter >> Advanced settings, can you see ATSTFF in the Custom initialization string? And is Use custom selected?

(My full list of custom string options are:

ATSP0

ATM0

I had used the obd on my previous mg5 with no issues.

I am not at the car now but I was going to try the 2024 profile see if that works.

What software version does your car have? SWI68 or SWI131? If the latter then the 2024 profile is probably what you need.

How do I check that? I got the car new a month ago but I believe it is a 2023 build. That said it has all the latest updates done before I collected it. I think the info system is on R68 or something like that

It's in the menus on the Infotainment screen - tap on the Settings cog icon then tap on System.

If yours is something like SWI68-29958-1300Rxx then the 2021-2023 profile in Car Scanner would be correct.

I cant get car scanner to work on mine either not sure if its the cheap reader or if you lose odb port is the problem.

I have the VGATE BT3.0 which appears to work OK with the Trophy - all the lights work and it pairs with the phone - I am not as yet able to read much data though as it appears I need a monthly subscription to any of the apps that I have tried - even the trial version - what APPS are others using and are they all paid for services?

1-off sounds reasonable rather than monthly forever esp. @ £4.49 for life

I have a new ODB device and still not getting carscanner to work. Worked fine with my 5. I am going to try and delete the app and install it again.

Yeah I did double check that. I have just reinstalled the app so will try again when I am out at the car later.

So now working. Slight pain as I bought a new obd device thinking that was the issue lol
