Brilliant! Love those videos. If drag races where won, because of the loudest/daftest noise, then obviously the X Power would have no chance. But guess what? They ain't!

A black Holden Ute with a bit of grunt (Maloo possibly) stayed with me till I got to 80kmph until thought better of things and let him go. I wasn’t really flooring it but he surprised me into seeing how it would all go. Felt a bit silly after though.

So if you had floored it, you would have smoked him. Why did you feel silly, because he kept up with you, although you weren't really trying or just for drag racing (sort of) in the first place.

I had an encounter with a Ford Mustang the other day. We weren’t in any sort of conflict and I was behind him but had a feeling he might go for it so put the car in sport mode. He did and I couldn’t help but grin knowing he must have been thinking “WTF” as the electric MG he’d already passed and accelerated away from came flying up behind him

Would it though? Apparently on that 1/4 mile run the X-Power was 12.36 seconds, the Opel 12.90 seconds. With a decent launch from the Opel it may well have been different, it was gaining rapidly on the MG at the end.

If it was an all wheel drive 800 bhp corsa with an automatic transmission it might have been different. The XPower is faster than pretty much anything petrol to 100 mph. Once you get to that speed you are already in instant ban territory so it’s only relevant on a track

Edit: I’m not condoning speeding nor have driven mine that fast but just stating what has been shown in YouTube drag race videos.

The X Power is ridiculously quick off the line. It seems to almost jump forward as if it's eager to get going. For that first second and a half there's not much that'll keep up with it. The acceleration tails off a little where others keep going which is where, I think, they claw back some time. But, at it's price point, it's a remarkable car.

Agree, but the temptation is huge!!!!!
Feeling silly afterwards, could maybe help with restraint next time?
Is this a bloke testosterone thing?
Does it happen to you ladies as well?

As I get older, restraint is a bit easier, but temptation is still there.

Actually my Excite 64 needs a short stab on the accelerator and then plant my foot to get a really good repsponse. In the wet though you have to be careful.

As I get older, restraint is a bit easier, but temptation is still there.

Mostly I just get away quickly, and then reach the speed limit and watch them over-egg the situation by barrelling past at well in excess of the limit.

my excite 51, isn't that quick, I've yet to try a launch though, foot on both pedals until you get 60% power then foot off brake. I think that would give a standard 6cyl holden a bit of trouble up to the speed limit.

Don't think it would have mattered. Not saying the Opel wouldn't have smoked it eventually. But the initial launch, pretty sure the X Power would always smoke it,
and most ICE cars, for that matter. And for Joe Public, that's all that matters. Once I've smoked them, I'm not bothered if they then Blast passed me.
