Changing the mg5 alloys

Hi all

After some advice on changing the mg5 alloys to aftermarket ones and some questions

. What would be the best size to upgrade to

.Any particular brand I should look at

. Will I see any difference in performance and battery %


I was personally looking to change end of this year but with how valuations are going I very much doubt it so why not have a few upgrades

Hi
I’ve upgraded my alloys twice
First to a different style of 16” using the original tyres
Second to 18”
The preference is yours
All you need to think about is the offset and wheel width
The bigger the wheel the lower profile tyre you will need to keep the Speedo accurate
My first upgrade wheels where:-
16” wheel
7” wide
Offset 38mm
205/60/16 tyre
The wheels I am running at the moment are:-
18”wheel
8.5” wide
Offset of 38mm
With a 235/40/18 tyre

How have the 18s affected your range ?

The current stated range of 430 km is a baseline for 61KW version. So

17" will result in 5% loss: 0.05 x 430 km = 21.5 km less (resulting in a new range of ~408 km)

18" will result in 15% loss: 0.15 x 430 km = 64.5 km less (resulting in a new range of ~365 km)

But look so much better. Particularly if a slight loss of range, doesn't bother, you.

Yes but for me I have two sets 17 inch with summer tyres and 16 inch with winter tyres. In winter the range degrades by 10%. So it's a balancing act.
