Just come across this too online ... have never heard of it before as I haven't driven in Switzerland for some years:

"Anyone who drives their vehicle in Switzerland are being warned they need to update their ‘motorway sticker’ to drive on the country’s major roads or risk a fine. The ‘vignette autoroutière’ is a sticker that must be purchased annually for any vehicle – car, motorbike, caravan, or camping car – that drives on a Swiss motorway or semi-motorway. It effectively functions as a tax for using these roads."

They cost 40 CHF annually, and can be purchased from here. There is a map of the system of roads affected here.

Yes I remember having to get one of these for our one day in Switzerland to collect our dog when we got him as a puppy (long story).

I think it was much less money than we spent on the French Tolled motorways.

Seemed a bit of a waste getting an annual pass and only using it for one day, though.

This is all completely 'off-piste' from teh OP, but ... Good grief - I had completely forgotten that! (I do though much prefer Blondie of the era ). My very average French (and total lack of Belgian French) left me completely at the first line, so looking up a lyrics translation left me ... ugh, nowhere!.

Close, but I think you have to go a bit more obliquely into slang/colloquial French with 'Fine by me' or even 'Everything's groovy' (if you're as archaic as me!)

Yes, the Singing Nun had a certain "je n' sais quoi", but I list "Can't Explain" (The Who) "Encore une fois"(Sash!) and "Black Betty" (Ram Jam) in my playlists!

Anyway, enough! as you say though I will just add that "Encore une Fois" has impeccable French (Original 12" mix version)

Wow Black Betty my favourite from the 70's, yes I am that old. First heard it when I was with my wife at the sand dunes at Cresswell beach in Northumberland. Her 4 year old brother used to sing it with the words 'Hey black berry bramble jam'.

Indeed ... and after a brief glimpse at the 'Sweeps' - thank goodness for that! - and just as I'm trying to fine-tune our next trip down to SW France in early April / mid-May.

Current problem is finding a really nice country 'Logis'-type hotel with good restaurant (most important) to replace our fabulous old haunt - the Hostellerie Saint Jacques at Saint-Saud-Lacoussière, now much too far west of Angoulême for our new EV route. We've now tried four different options, but none has yet quite ticked all the boxes.

There seems to be a strange dearth of such places just between the south-east of Angoulême, where we turn off from the N10, down to around Montpon-Ménestérol, which is about as far south for us on our second day (we're too long in the tooth to rush things these days!) I don't think I've missed anything, but anyone who knows the area and who thinks I have, I'd love to hear about it. We're presently having to resort to a small modern 'motel' near Ribérac with a brasserie next door - not our usual choice, but looks tidy enough while we keep looking. EV charging thankfully no longer a concern, as I think we have that sussed - and will be 3/4 of the way along the easy 222km (140mi) stint between the south Poitiers Tesla S/C and a Super-U Powerdot S/C at Pineuilh.

It seems to be a popular French holiday area. Passed along the N10 many times but haven't stayed between Poitiers & Santander / Bilbao before due to availability issues with parking on site.

We booked a place south of Bordeaux 5 months ago, they just cancelled & we had to rebook a few miles north in another place.

I am going to South West Wales. That's a longish trip from Ruilsip. Got a result with the rental property. Its got a chargepoint (Pod Point untethered) and is free if used between 12.30am and 4.30 am.
