Charging flap open alert ?

My husband forgot to close the charging port flap, we only realised when he got out to collect the take away is there no alert or light to show you it’s open ?

No alert. I have done it a couple of times and I am sure that I will do it again.

Just be careful if the charge flap is left fully open and somebody walks past and pushes it backwards, against it fully open point, it will snap off at the hinge !.

I must have a look/think about this, it would be relatively easy to set up a separate warning light, but forget about integrating it on the dash.

Easy enough to rig up a micro switch, inside of the charging port I think.
You just need a normally open switch that will energise when opened and not closed.
When the charging door / flap is opened, the micro switch is engaged.
A perm live feed on a piggy back fuse to one side of the micro switch, then from the other side of the micro switch, run a cable into a warning light inside of the cabin.
Then a cable from the second point on the warning light, to ground.
Easy enough to include a light inside of the charging port as well and included in the same fashion.
When the micro switch is released it would turn on the charge port light and the warning inside of the cabin light at the same time.
Back in the day I may have carried out this mod, but my days of on working of cars is over.
