Just new to the MG4 SE (2024 model)

Several queries, but first, is there a switch to allow 100% charge? I charged a night or two ago, and it seemed to stop at 80%

Unsure if this was coincidence with my charging times (Octopus Go) or whether I could have charged further and balanced the battery........

i see in the charge settings, there is a time set, but what happens if I charge at a Rapid on a long journey.

Handbook is fairly useless as far as I can see.

On that matter, I wonder if there is agood "How to" book for the MG4. The You Tube stuff has been useful, but adverts drive me crazy...:)

The manual is rather good, try it (but you have to appreciate the cumbersome translations)
You can set the max charging on the app (well hidden) and in the car

If your SE is an SR then it has an LFP battery and you normally do not have control of the battery charging limit; it always goes to 109%.

If you have an LR then you have an NMC battery over which you have charging control. As @webhiker stated above you change the level in the iSmart app, via the Charging Management button on the home page followed by the 'nut' at the top right. In the car it is via the battery tile.

Also check there is no schedule set in the car, via the app.

When you see the charging screen come up on the centre screen, swipe down or up or what ever it takes to get the main charging screen, there, you can change the charge percentage you want to stop charging. If you set it to 100% you have to leave it powered up until it finished balance charging and the green lights go out around the plug

I'm surprised you have an SR that deigns to stop the charge before 100% at all. Mine has always charged to 100% given the slightest chance. If I want less added I have to use the Octopus Smart charge and set it there.

Re-reading your post I note you mention a time set in the charge settings. If this is part of a scheduled charge period with an end time (I use the iSmart app and set the End time to the set battery level) then you may have problems outside of the scheduled time period. And if you have an SR then it may have been coincidence charging stopped at 80%.

When I charge my Trophy using a car schedule and my OHME and Octopus Go and I have not set a tariff limit I find the car will often start charging immediately and I have to stop it. If I then get a car status using the app it triggers the car to start charging again outside if the scheduled times.

Thanks for following up on this issue.

Sometimes the dealer does not know about the latest software issues so I recommend you follow @siteguru's suggestion to report the MCU and MPU versions. A photo is best.

Also have you tried with another EVSE (aka, incorrectly, as a Home Charger)?

Can you say what the battery level setting is on the Charging page accessed by tapping the battery information tile on the Infotainment home page? Again a photo is best.

Bear in mind also that the charge limit "slider" doesn't actually slide (AFAIK) .. you have to tap it to change the target level (in 10% increments I think).

Yeah, that got me when I couldn't shift the equivalent slider for the discharge function, and the car refused to boil my kettle when it was down under 50% SoC.
