I thought I’d share this in case it helps anyone else. My recently purchased MG5 Trophy arrived without the locking pin on the charge‑port cover. When I mentioned it during a service visit, MG quoted £180 to replace the entire cover assembly, even though the only thing missing was the small bayonet‑fit pin.
After checking a few threads, I realised this pin is basically a universal part used across several EVs. Comparing photos with listings on AliExpress, the pins for BMW, Mustang Mach‑E and other models are identical to the MG5 pin.
I ordered the cheapest one I could find (£1.69) and it fits perfectly, the link to the one I ordered is here. The charge‑port door still closed fine without the pin, but having it in place does make the it close flush and feel more secure.
Since I’ve seen a few people mention their pins going missing or falling off, this seems like a quick, cheap fix rather than replacing the whole cover.
