Just bought a 2024 MG4 SE, and so far pretty pleased with it.

After switching on Cruise Control, the middle button on the LHS of tthe sterring wheel, the adjustment button will not nudge the speed up or down.

The button works on the car in front spacing, ie sideways presses, but not the up and down press.

Is this a fault, or do I need to enable something somewhere....?

TIA

I'm not aware of any feature that allows a driver to disable some functionality of the cruise control system, so instead try the following.

Set the left-hand feature button to the AC control option. This will allow you to test the up and down buttons using a different feature of the car. This 'feature' should allow you to increase and lower the target temp with the button presses, if not, there is likely an issue with the physical steering wheel. If you can control the temp the issue is more likely to be with the system software loaded on the car. This does not seem to be uncommon, as there are lots of reports of dealers only partially applying software updates.

Once you have such info you can go pre-armed to an MG dealer to have the issue resolved.

Yes, I have tried as you have suggested.

In AC Mode the toggle switch does not work...........

The RH toggle switch works erratically ......

Very disapointing on a 15 month old car.

I bought the car from Motorpoint, so I suppose I have to go back to them in the firts place...

:(((

Was the service history maintained by the previous owner(s)? If so, this will be a job for an MG dealer as such a fault should be a warranty claim. The fact that the RH toggle is also erratic should be considered good news. The LH switch is the most used switch on the car, so there is a chance that someone could claim that is has been damaged by poor usage. The RH switch does not really have such a wear issue.

Hopefully the Motorpoint garage will honour their 90 day Warranty. They will no doubt want to try on MG warranty.

Shame, as the car has only done 6500 miles approx, so nearly new effectively. I assume there is no maintenance history. The car says the next serveice is 8000 odd miles away.

My old ZS EV had a service in November, so I will make that a good annual service date, with the same dealer that I bought the ZS from. They seem to an OK and friendly garage...:)

Just to add, the car drives very well, I have to get used to all the menu items, and hopefully have several yerars of good trouble free motoring with it...(X Fingers)

OK. That should be an arrow for Motorpoint....Thanks...

Sales bumf from M/P says it is still valid for 7 years or 80,000 miles.

Hopefully that will stand up for inspection. I have not received anty service history...

Will find out tomorrow re Motorpoint...:)

Checked with Motorpoint, and the service history is valid. Serviced last August,

But so far nothing heard about the repairs. Eventyally, I will takethe car to the MG dealer, and see if they accept the repair on their warranty. X fingers

Cracked the nudging problem. I have found out that if you lift the button, it works. It is not too intuitive, but hopefully that is now solved.

Not sure about the RHS toggle switch, that is still eratic.

Tge car is booked into the localmMG dealer for a software etc check.....:)

Suddenly I no longer am able to adjust distance spacing, left/right buttons have no effect. Also where nudge would previously give 5 ml increase (very handy when entering different speed limits), now gives 1ml increase with long nudge giving 5. Could this be as a result of updates recently installed?

The update to change the button function is old. I had mine done at its first service in 2024. Thus it is the current situation.

Your left/right problem is a different matter as that was not changed, although I seem to remember that after the update the car started to store the last setting but I cannot be certain. Have you tried @mj224's temporary solution above?

The 5mile -1mile switch over only happened to us at our last service. Others seemed to get this change much earlier.

My guess is that the new software was uploaded to the car in 2024 but the car did not apply it until the next service in 2025 but I can't say for sure.

The 1/5 operation now is far more intuitive and easy to control .. the old 5/1 operation was a waste of time (for the 1 mph adjustments) as setting any specific (non-5) value was nigh on impossible. The latest operation also aligns with every other car I've had that had cruise control (adaptive or otherwise).

I agree, the current 1/5 is far better than the previous operation. I use ACC to manage my speed and keep me legal in 20/30/40/50 speed limit areas
