Problem/Issue:
I had my MG4 Essence 64 (2023) serviced at the (local Australian) MG dealer in December 2025 who updated its software modules but now my Cruise Control/TJA is DANGEROUS. With the latest update, my Cruise Control/TJA automatic steering feature is sloppy (and over-corrects itself requiring intervention) steers very close to other cars (requiring me to steer manually), does not sit in the center of the lane, does not correct it's position with LKA (Lane Keep Assist) turned on, and requires strength to keep it from colliding with other cars. Very scary. This did NOT happen prior to the latest software module update. (Positively, phantom braking has ceased though).

Attempt to Rectify:
I advised the MG dealer service manager, emailed a detailed description (with diagrams), returned the vehicle, and they 'updated some missed software modules'. The problem is still the same, DANGEROUS.

Escalation:
I have tried to contact MG Motors Australia directly and complain to them without reply for more than two weeks. The service manager has not replied to my email about the problem persisting either. Complete silence, crickets, nothing.

My Questions to You All:
(1) Has anyone else had a similar problem with the latest software module updates (did you get a resolution)?
(2) How does someone contact MG Motors (Australia or Global) to raise this issue (if so, did you get a response)?
(3) Should I just contact a consumer watchdog/ombudsmen and let them follow this up (or a law firm)?

Thanks for reading

You could spend money on a lawyer, but such an escalation might make them even less willing to help you. I’m not saying that’s right, but that’s what I would expect.

It is scandalous you got ghosted by both the dealer and MG Australia though. Often going in in person to complain works best. They don’t want potential buyers to see/hear you complain, it’s harder to fob someone off when you have to look them in the eyes, and its harder to ignore you when you are physically there.

A lawyer will always be available to take your money later, I’d keep that option in your pocket for now.

Are there any other MG dealerships nearby you that may be willing to check the car? Perhaps they can see a mistake made by the first dealership in updating the modules.

What speed are you using TJA at? (Remember that ACC doesn't do any steering).

TJA stands for Traffic Jam Assist .. which infers low speed, heavy traffic conditions. It's not designed (per the name) to be an Auto-Pilot driving aid for highway speeds; yes it can do that, but that's not its core function. (That's the angle I expect MG to take).
