Why, like the MG4, doesn’t the Drive Mode Custom include the regenerative Braking?😡

This is because settings 2 and 3 are considered unsafe in certain driving conditions (snow), so it always defaults to setting 1.

I’m just asking for the setting, like the MG4, to be an option in the Custom setting I don’t want the default removed. Besides driving conditions such as Snow have a setting that ensures the user cannot set 2 or higher.

I am puzzled about this situation myself tbh ?.
We have only owned the S5 less that a week, after coming from the ZS EV.
The re-gen settings I liked where, drive mode NORMAL and MAX re-gen.
Once set the car remembered this each and every boot up, great !.
The S5 defaults are NORMAL ( fine ) and re-gen level LOW which is a bit weak for me.
I thought, I will set it too HIGH and I like that, problem is of course, when I reboot the car again, it returns too LOW !.
Question :- Can one of the buttons on the steering wheel be set up to bring up the re-gen modes, if so, is this difficult to do please ?.

The answer is yes. There are the 2 star buttons which can be set; I have one in drive mode and one in regen mode. Hopefully on a software update they might revert to your setting choice remaining in the boot up memory … we live in hope

Thanks @Jer this sounds like a good work around for the time being, is it a difficult process to assign the buttons ?.
Bit of a faff if you are jumping in and out of car a lot, having to swipe down to select your “custom settings” then fiddling with the buttons to select your desired re-gen / drive mode ?.

In ‘Driving Control’ I have set up Drive mode ‘Custom’ and clicked Power ‘Eco’ and Steering ‘Normal’; that is all you can set in Drive Mode ‘Custom’
In ‘Convenience’ you will find the 2 star buttons which you can assign various tasks; I have set to Drive Mode and Regen. When you use the buttons you have to toggle through to your required selection.

OPD requires a LOT of foot control and a lot of practice.
I tried it on the test drive, because I had never had it before.
After nearly splatting my wife against the inside of the windscreen on its first use, I decided it was going to taking some time to master the beast !.
At least we know the seat belt works then.
"What are you doing" was the cleaned up version of what my wife thought of OPD.

Brill - I would be fine with a NORMAL drive mode setting right now, until I get more time behind the wheel of course.
Can this be changed stored and saved as the default every time you boot up by the method you have used above ?.
Or do I have to assign a button on the steering wheel and then scroll through every boot up ?.
Thanks.

You can do it 2 ways
1. Enter the Carson menu and select’Cutom’ or assign a star button to ‘Drive Mode’ where you have to toggle between all the modes to select ‘Custom’

I love OPD, never use anything else, except ACC.

It really doesn’t take long to get used to.

I got a similar response from my brother when I put it in Sport mode and accelerated out of a 30mph limit during the test drive 🤣

I will give it another go soon
You should Dave - But I would experiment with it, when there is only you in the car.
I did like it when you slow right down and it brings you to a complete STOP.
Avoids any creep if you are just covering the footbrake, if you are expecting to move away very soon.

I also have comfort braking switched on in the options, it definitely smooths out the stop on OPD in my experience
