Cyberster - 1-year service

It's on page 2, it's a required part of the official checklist that MG dealers are meant to use.

Anything stating 100% battery SOH means it hasn't been done properly. (Or at all)

I had mine serviced today at the Drive MG dealership where I got it from & they charged me £359!! No work required, only done just over 1,000 miles! I can't believe it! Total rip off!! I'm going to make a complaint.

Yes, I had my doubts, but they also showed me the original printout as well. Don't some EVs just use up the buffer in the first couple of years so remain at 100%?

Hence why I'm keen to see what other owners cars SOH is after the 1st service.

I suppose it depends on whether they are reading the usable or total capacity. If it's useable, that's pretty much useless as a metric of health or longevity as it will always show 100% until all the buffer has gone!

I just had my cyberster serviced today, first one (bought the car Oct 2024). Had the service done at the dealership where I got it from (purchased on PCP). I'm still trying to get over the shock! £359 !! I kid you not!! Only done just over 1,000 miles, no work required. Took it in at 10.30am and they didn't even move it till 2.50pm.
They phoned me at 4.02pm to say it was done & I could pick it up! Didn't even have to wash it, I told them not to, as I have a ceramic coating on it!
Daylight robbery. I am frankly disgusted & I am going to look at where I can raise a complaint.
Just Getting mine serviced - Official MG price is £156.00 for the first year (checked a couple of places).

I decided to go for the service plan below

I had my first service today, £126 (also, no wash requested). I had asked for the system to be upgraded (currently R31) as the custom MG Pilot feature in R34 would really make the start of every journey much less hassle. I also asked if the satnav could be updated as it is getting dated, and it's not a Naviextras system in the Cyberster unlike other MG models. The dealer was told by MG UK that the Cyberster satnav was Naviextras (sadly, the dealer didn't know how to find the About screen).

MG UK support had previously told me it's up to the dealer whether an upgrade is applied; the dealer says MG UK say whether it can. As with other manufacturers, I'd expect if there's no user upgrade method, then dealer upgrades would be on-demand.

I do love my Cyberster, but MG UK need to get their act together on the Cyberster (and IM5) if they want to succeed in that end of the market. Having read other reports from Cyberster owners, it wasn't a surprise to get no updates done on the service, but it is really disappointing.

Has anyone in the UK managed to get a software upgrade to R34?

MG typically only pays dealers for warranty issue related updates.

General approach to getting an update is to complain to your dealer about specific software problems and insist they are fixed under warranty, preferably without mentioning software updates per se. This is how it has worked with all the other EV models released so far.

I am not saying this is how it should be, but asking for updates hasn't worked for many people unless they have a brilliant dealer who will swallow the cost.

For premium vehicles, it should not be like this, but that's the model until/unless MG change it.

I’ve just had an invite to book the 1st year service by our local dealer - nearly 2 months before the actual anniversary - no problem on that just planning ahead I guess.
I asked for the price which is apparently £164.85 incl VAT(UKP)
We will have done about 8k miles by the time a year is up in October.
My service coming up next month, really looking forward to it after my last heap of junk Porsche Taycan cost over £1100 for the service, that's daylight robbery for you!!

Just had 1st service (1,600 miles) done at Arnold Clark MG East Kilbride, £140.40. While You Wait appointment. Took 1hrs 20 mins. This was their first Cyberster service. Walk around video of car provided detailing tyres, brakes, hoses and pipe conditions & battery SOH (99%). Overall a very good experience.

First service today at 1 year and just under 8,000 miles.
£162
Asked re software and told “We’re not allowed to by MG unless there is a reported fault with a specific component like screen blanking. I said I had seen that and apparently they did something but not totally convinced.
Clean bill of health as one might hope at this stage.

Just a reminder to all of my experience with that.

I complained there was a fault with the entertainment system and they reinstalled the same version over the top of my existing one.

So either they didn’t have the new one or they didn’t install it - but either way I didn’t get it

Mine was serviced today. Took 2-3 hours, nothing notable from the dealer or myself, cost £162.

Dealer did comment that we Cyberster owners seem to be very happy people! But unlike the previous service I hadn’t driven mine to Switzerland.

And for the kids, as their friends call it the flying car as it has wings, I took this pic.

So just received the service plan... Does anyone know why the costs increase outside the first and third services?

The second service is £297.84, including parts and VAT
The third service is £162.00, including parts and VAT
The fourth service is £511.35, including parts and VAT
Service 5 is £492.36 including parts, labour and VAT
Service 6 is £297.84 including parts, labour and VAT

(Edit- from the similar threads at the bottom of the page, this seems to be an MG thing...)

The time to establish the service cost and argue over whether or not it's acceptable or correct is before you have it done, not after!!!
They said they wouldn't know until I took it in. Allegedly they looked it up on the official system & said it was because it was a prestige car. We can't all be perfect, can we?

Not a particularly helpful comment in the circumstances.

Maybe not, but a lesson for next time maybe? Never, ever, let anyone in the motor trade work on your car until they have confirmed what the cost will be prior to starting work, too many opportunist crook dealerships out there.

Did you get any joy with your complaint over the cost?
