Cyberster suspension

I totally agree. Especially bad on roads that feature rapid, repetitive undulation (small elevation changes occurring every few meters, creating a wave-like surface).

Well, I have had the Cyberster for two months now and can truly say it is up there as one of the most fun cars I have owned. There are a few design issues that hopefully will be addressed in future versions but none deal breakers.

The suspension is one area that really needs addressing and @m0rph described it perfectly. We drove over the Snake Pass* twice yesterday and this road is a real challenge for the suspension on the Cyberster GT. My wife was in the car with me and she felt like she was being thrown all over the place. As driver I was aware but did not bother me as much.

I don't have enough knowledge of the engineering challenges, but will suspension issues be inherent in all EV roadsters simply due to the weight and dynamics of the batteries? It will be interesting to see how the competition handles suspension as new roadsters appear on the market. Porsche sound like they are trying something different with the batteries mid-mounted in a stacked configuration. Suspect this will create other issues but time will tell.

*As a footnote, if you are near the Peak District I would recommend making a detour to drive the Snake Pass with the soft top down, a beautiful drive.

It should not be forgotten that MG built the Cyberster, the first roadster weighing around 2 tonnes. How long did it take sports car manufacturers to really understand the chassis? MG will also need quite some time to achieve the optimum here.

But because I'm more of a cruiser, I don't mind if the chassis doesn't work well when driving more aggressively.

I think that suspencion system and chassis themselfs are fine its about springrates and dampping valjues, rear has too little reboud damping as first thing to do, front is quite good. I have Cadillac ELR with magnaride and it goes over same bumbs like nothing with perfect front/rear balance where Cyb bounces badly. And ELR has 180tkm and its 2014

And by looking it, Cyberster suspencion looks way more sophiscated, definetly british/ european influence

Do you know roughly when? the stock suspension is driving me nuts.

No, just received this on August 22nd:

Hello Patrick,

Thank you for your inquiry and the interests in our products.
At the moment we cannot offer a suspension kit for the MG Cyberster.

But I have good news since we are planning to do a development but this will take another few months until the suspension kit can be launched.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us anytime.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards

Lisa Wohlfarth

Haha no backroads for you. A lift kit would be handy though. The battery is right there underneath the car. Im not sure how much protection it has against a scrape or mound bump smacking it.

Maybe if combined with 21 inch wheels etc itll lift it slightly

I got a note from my trusted KW-dealer. He said, that KW has a supension for the Cyberster, and that they are looking for a test-customer. Price for the suspension would be 50%, the rest (assembly, track settings, ...) is all for free. You just have to bring the Cyberster to Fichtenberg in Germany. They need to have the car for about 2 weeks for their tests.
My dealer asked me, if I am interrested to be the test-customer. I don't know yet. Maybe soneone from this forum? 😁

Take one for the team. 50% worth it lol. Will it have shocks and lift options? If so could be as much as 4k based on other models of KW
