Cyberster suspension

I don't know the exact specs, but I have next week a meeting with the KW dealer. As soon as I know more, I will let you know.
Even with distance I am interested lend car no prob if it takes even more than two weeks. There is no weather here in Finland for roadster until next april

Strange. I asked my contact at KW, and she said:

The MG Cyberster prototypes are almost ready to test fit in the vehicle.

The development is being handled by our subsidiary in China. They are also responsable for installing the suspension system.

Therefore, it will likely take until the end of this year before we can release it.

Anyway, promising...

Another Belgian owner (not on this forum) mentioned that the "driveshaft boots" on his GT were replaced because they were leaking. The whine could come from lack of lubrication. I would check those first.

I have some news from KW. As things stand at present, they do not yet have the suspension.

This is the answer from KW Switzerland in original:

Translated with DeepL.com:
As things stand today, development/installation trials could be carried out in the first quarter of 2026.
KW Germany would then need the car for at least three weeks to carry out all the tests (parts certification) and adjustments on the test bench.
I can only give a rough estimate of the price here. Expect to pay between CHF 1,500.00 and CHF 1,750.00.
As already mentioned, delivery and collection are at the customer's expense.
In other words, the customer must bring the vehicle to Fichtenberg themselves and then collect it again three weeks later.

That sounds very much like a test dummy to me. I don't even know the technical specifications. What kind of KW suspension will they install?

Questions:
  • Is the handling better with the KW? I would like to drive on first.
  • Disadvantages?
  • What about MG's warranty? Does MG refuse to honour warranties?
But yes, I was annoyed by the suspension again last week in fast, undulating corners.
The suspension does not match the appearance of the Cyberster 😏

Tru, suspencion does not match potential of Cyb. I once had KW suspencion in 2012 SS Camaro and that is not bad car as OEM. KW set was fully adjustable, ride height, in/out damping separetly, car rode like on rails. So I am sure that set for Cyberster is also similar, fully able to dialed in for individuals liking and driving style. If price you had is for set then its bargain. But for warranty it needs to be approved by MG, if not it probably will void warranty atleast partly.

As warranty, MG should come up with atleast improved shocks for rear , they lose control after second undulation, when cornering its not safe. Rear shocks are quite big, so its not rocket science to make better, and cost is in tens Eur.

A little more info. KW is developing the V3 Street Performance coilovers for the Cyberster. So adjustable ride height, rebound (16 clicks), compression (12 clicks). Installation trial and a partial TÜV certification will be done in Fichtenberg. An exact date is still not known, but "early next year" is what I've been told. And oh, my car will be the test vehicle :)

Perfect, then I don't have to think about whether I should play test vehicle anymore 😁 As I wrote, they offered me also Q1 2026.

I am very excited to see the result.

This is great news - I haven’t been here for a while 😁

I lowered my Model 3 Performance in my own garage with no prior experience - only based on Youtube videos 😂. I will not do that ever again even though it worked out in the end 😁

Impressive. I have lowering springs, spacers, and even the Hardrace rear camber kit for my model 3 performance. Sitting on a shelf since 2022 😆

i tried the M3P suspension and its impresive. why drives you to change those? any bits that you didnt like?
For me, it was more for the looks. The M3P is very very good from factory. This week I have been pushing mine around some roundabouts, the endless grip still impresses me every time. In fact, the cyberster is not even competition of it, it's in another league.

Lowered suspension for most people is purely for aesthetics. Ok if it handles a bit better, that's a bonus. Standard suspension for the majority of folk is, perfectly fine, for the roads. Fair enough if you go on tracks regularly, you might want better suspension, but most don't. 🙂👍

Yeah the B road bouncing from the rear is an issue for some. Sports suspension makes it more compliant to soak up nasty undulations found on many roads in England. If the kit from kw comes with front lift as well that would be good value.

A lift system (front axle only) would triple the price (~2k -> ~6k).

As others have already mentioned :-). Aftermarket alloys with to much clearance/gap just looks wrong to me or at least it looks so much better with only 1,5-2 fingers gap
:). My M3P had 3,5-4 fingers stock :-)
