Hi all,

I know there's a search option but I couldn't find an answer to my query.

So got my ZS EV for 2 months now and already been scratched while being parked, I'm looking at buying a dashcam with parking mode, the model I've picked for front and ream is GKU D600 Pro. It does says about hard wiring if I want to use parking mode but does that means I need to one for fuse box or I can use the OBD hard wire? Would that work the same and what about battery usage while parked? Would it drain the same amount for both fuse box and OBD? I use car daily and charge it at lest twice per week if my wife use it. Thank you for help in advance.

You probably need it to be wired to a constant 12V source, maybe directly to the battery.

The camera uses whatever power it uses, no matter where you draw it from.

Just be mindful that the 12 volt battery isn't the best and can quickly drain and brick the car.

Have you thought about using a USB Powerpack to provide power? They are not very expensive and I would think they would last long enough for a car park parking record. Simplifies the whole installation and avoids any wiring changes. Just need to remember to recharge periodically, or even charge as you go along.

The little boxes you buy for the hardwired kit usually cut the power to the dashcam when the battery voltage drops to save the battery, but you might want to think about getting a new 12V battery, especially if you get warnings on the dash. I used one of the little piggyback fuses on the seat motor fuse in the fusebox for the dashcam supply as that had constant power on my Mk1 ZS. Lots of videos on YouTube.
