DashCam turns off.

Hi Mike I’m having the exact same dash cam fitted tommorow, can I ask does it power down only at start up when you press the brake or does it do it during a journey say when you stop press the brake and go into reverse etc ? Just trying to decide if I should use the usb or pay a title extra to have it hardwired like in my prev mg
Hi, sorry for delay in reply, been away. The power glitch seems to happen when you press the brake on initial start up after the car has turned off. My problem turned out to be a duff camera battery so you should not get any problems with a new camera.

I have a Miofive dash cam, and the same problem happens to me. The camera worked fine in my previous car. Strange.

It seems the MGS5 cuts the power to the USB sockets when going from the ready state (sitting on the drivers seat) to active state (pressing the brake pedal). If your dash-cam hasn't got a working backup battery that could be causing the problem.

I this also true of the MG4. The 12v accessory outlet gets a power interruption from sitting in the car to pressing the brake pedal. I've noticed my dashcam does the same thing now, it's probably a duff battery in the Nextbase dashcam as @MikeM has discovered with his.
