Did you buy your EV to Save The Planet?

Oh yes, that's a great sound, and the engine sound is one thing I miss with an EV.

Thought I would. But don't miss it at all.
Like the silence. (Apart from the motors) Particularly in the X Power. The silent Assassin. Makes me smile when you hear cars screaming away, to make any decent progress.
Then you just whoosh past them. 🙂👍

I hated the previous Konas.

I like the front end of the current Kona, but the back end still rankles with the rear light clusters bulging out oddly.
Whilst it is nice to have a car that is a looker, unfortunately the looks are for other peoples benefit. As the owner my time is spent inside. :D

Which curiously brings me to steam trains. I have spent my money to travel on heritage steam trains before but I seriously wonder why. The whole beauty is watching them go by (for free) and not sitting in some uncomfortable old passenger carriage behind one watching people wave at you.

So true, but by spending money to be there it goes some way to ensure they will be there. Better still spend the money being a driver for the day. A few years back I did a 'driver experience' where I fired for one trip then drove a 9F for the return trip, quite an experience.

Always agreed with that sentiment , but in relation to houses . The best looking house on the street might not be the best inside where you spend your time. Before the advent of the MG4 I would also have given the same response , but strangely I still get a bit of a buzz and emotional satisfaction when approaching it and comparing it with the relatively drab cars surrounding it in supermarket car parks. I was going to add ... you can't buy that, but obviously , you can .

Which is one of the reasons heritage railways provide alternatives to "sitting in some uncomfortable old passenger carriage". Like dining on board (some if which is surprisingly good), so the whole thing becomes more of a day out.

Or try travelling in a vintage First Class compartment and see what it used to be like when we had a proper railway run for passengers rather than for hedge funds (even old BR standard coaching stock from the 1970s is more comfortable than some of the minimally upholstered plastic seating in modern trains. See Thameslink and Great Western for details).

I love the silence, but also enjoy the gentle whine of the motors on acceleration, sounds like the future to me!

This is why I really like that the MG4 shows its colour on the inside of the cabin. Just a few bits from the door (and I can see the edge of the bonnet too), it's nice to see the colour you paid for, instead of just all black plastic.

I admit to sometimes having a sense of guilty self-satisfaction at traffic lights when sat alongside a 'boy'-racer revving his ICE looking to make a quick getaway. Then, as the lights turn green, my whisper-quiet instant torque kicks in and I accelerate effortlessly to the speed limit... to be overtaken a second or two later by said 'boy'-racer for whom speed limits are considered just for lesser people.

There's some lights on a roundabout near us into a 40, then 50. It makes me smile the only way that most ICE can get past us from the lights (eventually) is to break the speed limit! Then they slam on because of the Gatso...

They don't like being out-revved by a cheap nasty Chinese car in their prestige motors.

I have a similar guilty pleasure, when I’m on the freeway and about to overtake a slow 4x4 Ute (pick up), they sometimes (often actually) start speeding up ( I suspect because they can’t stand being overtaken by an EV). I often just let the cruise control hold me steady because eventually they all drop back down to their slower speed, but every now and again I can’t resist pulling along side them, and then just giving it the beans for a second or so to show them how much acceleration I have left. Just to let them know they could never keep up if we really went for it.

The Stag didn't scream, more of a roar

Today, I awakened the sleeping beast, oh dear cod, roll on the good weather……
