Disconnect the 12v battery

If is disconnect just the neutral to allow me to hardwire in my dash cam, will the car reset itself or suffer any affects? When I reconnect it will all be the same as it was?thanks.

I disconnected mine and replaced it without any problems....but I'd leave it to the last bit of the job, to keep the time to a minimum.
