Distance keeping system

Under what conditions will we receive a warning about dangerous proximity to the vehicle in front? I never receive such a warning. The dealership claims that it is fine and that we should trust the system.

You will usually get a warning if you're approaching a vehicle, or obstacle too fast, without showing any sign of braking or slowing down, you probably won't be able to 'force' the warning, so I'd agree with the dealership, trust the system, and if you never see the warning, it probably means you're a good driver.

I do occasional get the warning (and I do accept that is the indication of my driving skills )
Not that I have all the details (I suggest reading the manual) but as a minimum it includes being over a certain speed, the approach speed it self (i.e. it will not alert if you approach slowly) and obviously the absolute distance to the object in front (I "think" that object should be identified as a component of traffic, so not a wall)
In general I believe it's hard to test as it would bring you within 1/2 sec from a crash

Thanks. It's probably impossible to test. How can you be sure the system is working? It's not like other distance-keeping systems like mobileye.

It's not a distance keeping system.
You test it the same way you test your airbags.

Do you mean when parking the car or when driving following another vehicle?

I did it. I just bumped into the cardboard boxes. I was told it had to be shaped like cars.

I see the warning pop up occasionally, always just before I hit the brakes, I guess the car is a little more risk averse than I am.

It doesn't have to be shaped like a car, a small wall also causes the alert, so does a lamp post or even a person.
