Do I have to unplug the 12v battery to charge it?

Just leave it connected.....

Too late :)

I have a Ctek "comfort lead", as it's called, permanently attached to my 12v so I can plug my Ctek battery charger/conditioner in as and when I need to.

I have the same set up on my Gen 1 ZS EV which has now been switched over onto our updated Gen 2 LR face lift model.
The "Comfort Lead" has two terminal eyelets, the red lead connects to the positive lead of the battery and the black lead connects to an earth point on the body shell.
Smart / intelligent battery chargers are designed to quickly analyse the state / condition of the 12 volt battery and then provide a safe charge rate.
It is important ( especially on EV's ) not to send a very high level of charge into a 12 volt battery, super quickly.
Especially when the main battery leads are still connected to the car, as you run the risk of damaging the control modules.
