Driving range

From what I read, going below 10% is damaging, not good for the long term battery life but I do remember reading somewhere that it's good to occasionally balance from 10% to 100%. I do 10%-100% once a year and other times from about 25% - 100% every 6-8 weeks or so ...
(p.s. I only have granny 3kW charger so can only balance when the car is not needed)
Honestly, if you drive it below 10% and then charge it, it's not that big of an issue, i would not park it up with 2% and leave it until the next day.

We regularly drive our Tesla near 0%, because we know we can trust it to not suddenly drop from 5% to 0% in 3 miles as i have seen other EV's do.

But that's mainly when going on holiday, we drive on, until it reaches about 5% and then we charge to 80% at a supercharger and drive on until we reach about 5%

Car is now 2 years old, have done 50.000 miles and we have had no battery degradation to speak of

As I understand it, the Battery management system allows a margin at both upper and lower ends so the bottom 10% is probably not that low....
If you have a range, you must be able to use it.

I would freak out if I had 10% or less left and not within a mile of my home or EV charger! 😱
Last night I came home with about 20% left , I was the slowest on M1 towards London (where I normally get quite enthusiastic) and there were no trucks to trail ...😂

It feels silly, the car screaming at you when you react 21%.

When we first got it, my wife drove it, in pretty cold weather, when she got to 10% it started decreasing the output, but this was a very cold battery and refusing motorway speeds. (Dropped to about lorry speed)

In the Tesla i once had her with me on a trip, i was to go work somewhere, she went along and took the car to go do shopping. Car projected it would arrive at a supercharger near the motorway with 1% SoT and she was a bit nervous. The road branched out, left was onramp for southgoing motorway, right was for northgoing motorway, straight ahead was across to the chargers.

She managed to go right and called me frantically from the hard shoulder.

Told her to go on, she drove about 5 miles north to the next exit, turned around and did 5 miles south, arriving at the charger with -1% ...

The only person/thing that had NO blame for what happened, was her, both me, the navigation, the roadsigns, me and other motorists were to blame.

After that she stopped complaining when i run it down below 5% but with a Supercharger as the destination within the range :)
