Eco mode

Hi have owners found the eco mode any more economical i have tried eco for a few days and then reverted back to normal according to the mpg read out the car did more mpg in normal then in eco

I Pete i have noticed the steering is lighter and I can feel a reduction in engine power but I was expecting the mpg to be better in Eco maybe I drive it harder in Eco to obtain the same engine power as in normal mode so the reduction in mpg in Eco maybe my fault hope you're enjoying yor car and welcome to the forum

Still haven't decided what I really think of the car.
There are things that I just hate. Driving with the front window open is just impossible.
The engine reving when there's not even a reason for the engine to be spinning. Sometimes even when going down a slope.

I've had mine since April now done 2000 miles problems encountered so far tail gate strut replaced high level brake light cover replaced due to it being loose and vibrating the engine reving seems to affect the majority of cars MG says it's normal i think the car is limited by the 3 speed gearbox

Agree. I think it is the 3 speed gear box. Seems at times to be in the wrong gear or maybe not enough ratios particularly at higher speeds.

Agreed other owners on the ZS hybrid model have had software updates for the over revving with mixed results personally I think another 2 gears making it a five speed would transform the MG 3, for the money in the UK It's not a bad car and serves my driving criteria now I'm retired and only cover a low mileage maybe development of the car in the future will transform all the problems

But the gearbox is only used when you're going over 50 mph ?
The high revs is the engine spinning the generateur to recharge the batteries and give the motor a boost.

HI Pete According to MG and internet sites the gearbox changes up and down it's gears below 50 mph when it's deemed necessary in climbing hills or an extra load is placed on the car etc the increased noise on my car happens when it is charging the batteries
