My petrol mower is getting on a bit as am I. I am thinking of replacing it with a battery driven model. The lawn is flat & roughly 80m2.
I would prefer a self propelled version as I need a total knee replacement at some stage.

What would be the recommendation from the forum members for the best buy.

Bought a Cobra self propelled battery mower, about 4 years ago now, it's been great, I'll get you the exact model number,
when I get home. Got one coz couldn't be arsed with an electric cable one, unwinding and winding the cable, then keep moving it when mowing. And didn't want a petrol one either, always pulling me tripe out trying to start, the bloody thing, particularly after the winter lay off. 🙂👍

Does your car do V2L? you could buy a good electric one and an adaptor for a lot less money than a mediocre battery model.

I have a Worx battery mower (rotary blade type, not cylinder). It's one I have to push though, not ride-on.

I also have a Worx strimmer and drill/screwdriver - the batteries are all interchangeable.

Think he wants a hand self propelled one.
He's only got an 80 square metre lawn.

That would be ok if you had a corded electric mower and you wanted to mow the village green, but if you're using a corded mower at home, you might as well just plug it in at home?

This is very similar to mine, but mine's about 4 years old now, and still working perfectly. The one below is probably an improved model. 🙂👍

I've been using an Einhell 36v one for a few months, not self propelled though. came with 2 batteries and chargers. If the grass is short it runs at low speed but ups the power for longer stuff. It's very light to push around or lift onto a bank in my case.

Like all my power tools I have gone for Ryobi. The mower isn’t propelled but is quite light and my grass area is about the same as the OP’s
So I have half a dozen batteries that fit all the tools. If I’ve ever bought new I get the bare tool without a battery. Much cheaper.

I have an Einhell mower too. It's getting on for 2 years old, never missed a beat and is easy to push even with my bad knees. I also have the matching strimmer which uses the same battery.

I've got a Cleva Lawnmaster robot mower nicknamed Moby, I just sit back and watch him do all the work, he does a great job.

I have two Worx robot mowers that cover a 3000 sq metre garden. I even run them at night. Just sit back and watch them. All my tools are Worx and naturally interchangeable with the battery system. Too old to push mowers around 👍

I have used Greenworks' mowers for years. They also feature the separate battery which can be used with other Greenworks' products (strimmer, etc). They have a self-propelled mower version here.
Greenworks are a good product, I have quite a few garden tools by them all sharing the same battery

We bought a Ferrex one from ALDI about 5 years ago on a whim and still going strong.
I then replaced all my big named tools with Ferrex equivalents and they are all excellent so cordless drill, hammer drill, impact driver, angle grinder, circular saw, hedge trimmers and others I can't remember.
I'm always busy and they've never let me down.

I bought this Greenworks model 40v 2.0A 46cm 40V Self-Propelled Battery Lawn Mower 46cm - Greenworks in the spring it was on offer with 10% off as it was the last in the shop as a display model with no box...but it did come with a charger and 2X 2.0 40v batteries hidden in the grass box😃. It's very well made, designed in Sweden and made...guess where🤔🙂. I have a lane that's about 200 yards long and I cut the banks and verges then a fairly large obstacle course of a paddock. It's all tough grass and it copes with it well. Surprisingly, it has two motors, one small one for propulsion, which is variable speed and the bigger one for the rotor. By the time the first battery is depleted, it's time for a cuppa and I put it on charge whilst using the other battery.
It's a lot lighter than the petrol self start I had previously, but does a better job in my opinion.
It works well for me.
