Hi,
I’m the very happy owner of a 3 week old phev and I would like some guidance please from all you experienced electric drivers.
I am using a granny charger (10 amp max) to charge for 5 hours off peak about twice a week as we don’t generally stray too far from home and this is more than adequate for our needs.
I have read people saying that keeping the charge between 20 and 80 is the best way to treat the battery long term. My question is how can I stop the battery charging at 80% ? Last night I plugged in the charger which has no adjustments available and selected scheduled charging via the app and this morning the car had 86% of electric available. I can’t see anywhere via the app or the car Ev management where a percentage can be selected. This is probably stupid question but I can’t for the life of me see how I can manage the % charged unless it’s only something that can be achieved using a proper Ev charger.
Also, I have been driving in hev mode since collecting the car as I read somewhere that the engine needs 900 miles to bed in. The car now has 540 miles on the clock and as you all know the car selects electric most of the time anyway when driving in town, so am I doing the correct thing before switching over to Ev once 900miles passes or did you all just use electric from the start.
Sorry to be asking these questions but my previous car was a mhev and this is all new to me, and the owners manual doesn’t really go into detail with these particular questions.
Many thanks
