Emergency S.O.S. Heads Up

Trying to put an interior light on while driving, I hit the SOS emergency button by mistake (should it really be so near the light controls?). Immediate panic and freeze on my part, followed by total embarrassment when I had to admit my mistake and allow the emergency operator to end my call.
A quick read of the manual = press the button again within 5 seconds to cancel the call. Highly recommended if you ever find yourself in my position.

Yep. Just dived in it. It's on the passenger side. That makes it even worse.

Remember that in the worst case scenario it makes the call automatically so no human intervention required

I seem to remember you need to set which country you are in otherwise you get a very confused person speaking in a foreign language. I'll have a look later but it's too cold and dark at the moment to sit in the car ?

That's fine.
But the location also means my wife is no longer allowed to sit in the front passenger seat..

I must admit that I have done it twice. The one thing I have learned is not to touch the light switch while driving!

Try not to feel too embarrassed. The call is only going through to a call centre under contract by MG when you press the button. Thankfully you are not put through to the 999 operator (unless the car has detected that it's crashed).

Mine's set up with MG Assist's number, so it calls the AA not the emergency services.

The MG4 also has the ability to set an MG Assist number, but that is not started from the SOS button, but from the "Rescue Call" option on the Nav Screen swipe left menu.
