EU MG4 (all variants) - Service campaign SC077 is out, improving lane assist performance

Very unfortunate that they took their sweet time doing this. I had enough of my car trying to kill me, so got rid of it, and bought a Japanese car instead. Couldn't be happier. Never buying Chinese again.

Got through to my MG dealer today where I bought my car Trophy 73, 10 April to enquire about the SC077 LKA update and was told that it was applied as part of the pre purchase service. I've no way to check this but would say that on low sensitivity it works as I'd expect and gives a gentle nudge and bleep only. I turn off the default option for emergency braking which I think is the major culprit for grabbing the wheel out of your hand.

For anyone who has had the SC077 update do you leave the emergency breaking option on and how do you find it?

Software is R40 not R63 but seems to work ok so unless there is something I'm missing with the latest update (thats not going to introduce other issues) Im happy to leave it as it is.
I leave emergency braking enabled on Low sensitivity and have no issues with it.

When I had SC077 applied it solved my complaints about LKA which I leave enabled now (the wife still hates it and turns it off though which does show some people will always hate it no matter how well it behaves). I have driven a lot of others cars who's LKA is far more annoying that MGs is now.

Prior to getting SC077 installed when I nudged up or down on the left joystick when in Cruise Control the speed changed in 5mph jumps. After the update it steps in 1mph steps and that's how I knew they had actually installed the update, well, that and it stopped trying to kill me on country roads 😀

Thanks Richard yes in my car whilst in Cruise Control brief nudge 1mph and hold for 5mph increments so I guess it has had the SC077 update. 😊

I've had French (Peugeot), German(Porsche, VW) and Japanese (Toyota, Nissan) cars and the Xpower is the best of them all. I'll never, ever by European or Japanese again. Always give Chinese priority.

They are different updates. When my car was serviced last year the cruise control changed from 5mph increment with a brief nudge to 1mph increments etc.

The SC077 update was applied at this year's service.

Yes of course. Looks like I had the ACC update too. Wasn't even aware of that. Thanks.

I suspect I am being slow but for the experts out there please be patient. I had my March 22 Trophy in for its annual service yesterday. The dealership told me that whilst in, they carried out the SC077 Lane Assist Recalll and SCUK001 software Updates as required.

I can see from this thread that this involves the LKA but can someone explain in simple terms what that actually involves and where do I see the difference? Are there new settings in the menus? What else has been updated and how do I find out if all the updates have been done. Frankly, I don't trust my dealer and have not been impressed. Last year I asked for all software updates and was told they had been done but found out later (after help from this forum) that my car had not been updated so I am skeptical particularly as they took the whole day from 09:30 to service the car and told me they were having trouble with the updates. The car was handed back to me literally shortly before closing and only after I expressed concern I might not get it back and I had no way of getting home.

Unfortunately you cannot tell if they have actually carried out the updates without some specialised equipment, however you should be able to notice the difference with the LKA as it is apparently far less aggressive. FWIW - my dealer, despite stating that they had done the SC0077 LKA update at it's last service, didn't actually do it (checked by another member).

When I got SCUK001 the noticeable change was that ACC would increase/decrease by 1 mph per tap (up/down) of the left joystick, whereas prior it would be 5 mph. With SC077 you'll know straight away that it has worked because LKA won't try and wrench the wheel out of your hands now. :)

I had SCUK001 done back in 2023 and my ACC still increases in 5mph increments (always has) and yes the LKA can give the steering wheel a really good tug for no apparent reason.

That's how I knew the first update (SCUK001) had not been done last year, I was still getting 5mph increases with ACC . I am just so skeptical of the promises made by dealerships with regard to updates, particularly if there is no obvious way of telling if its been done. Do I take it then that there are no Menu changes visible or screens that show the latest sofware updates and it's just a matter of leaving LKA on and seeing what happens?

Thanks for the replies.

Do you know for sure that it was done? After all you've already had it confirmed that SC077 wasn't done despite the dealer assurances, so why won't the same apply for SCUK001? 🤷‍♂️

Maybe it wasn't done properly/completely? All I know is that at my first service the paperwork mentioned SCUK001, and the only really noticeable change was to ACC. 🤷‍♂️

Just a quick question ...
With this update, does the adjustment of the setting for the speed limiter now change in 1 mph increments as well?
(I hope not - that would be real pain.)
Just had our car serviced and SC077 installed.
Very pleased to say that the speed limiter still changes in 5mph steps.
(Contrary to conflicting reports above 😛 )

When I picked the car up after the service, at first I just did the usual pre-flight routine because habit, and because trying it out on the Edinburgh bypass didn't seem like a clever move. However I tried it this evening on the A702 and it's definitely a lot gentler. I deliberately let the car drift towards the centre line, got a beep and the centre line flashed red on the driver's screen, but the twitch on the steering wheel was pretty minimal. So for sure they definitely did it.

I'll try not turning it off and see how I get on. If it did work it would be a good thing I think. I once nearly killed myself with a micro-sleep on the M25 in about 1987 in my old Fiesta and only recovered because a driver coming up on my right shoulder saw me drift and sounded his horn. So I can see the utility. Right now I'm wondering if it's strong enough, but I'll take the car out for a spin tomorrow and see how it goes.
