EU MG4 (all variants) - Service campaign SC077 is out, improving lane assist performance

Not if it always defaults to the same setting though. The main point of this is not to have to do the pre-flight routine!
@Rolfe , I had the latest updates done at my second service 4 weeks ago, and the car has behaved impecably since! Previously, it would frequently try to either guide me into the hedge on narrow Cornish lanes, or into the path of oncoming traffic on B roads without a white line when close to the kerb.

I have not done the usual preflight LKA turnoff since the update and 2nd service. Although for the first couple of weeks I was expecting the car to misbehave, other than a beep and a slight nudge if I approach the white line without indicating, it has not put a foot (or should that be a wheel) wrong. The screen response is still as laggy as it was before, but IMV the driver assist and safety software now behaves as it should have done when we first bought our cars!!

Not sure if the sensitivity level stays the same after a restart. I put mine on low when I got the car and it's been there ever since.

I've always turned it off, after my first joyride down a winding single-carriageway A road. I actually parked up, got the manual out, and figured out the procedure at the half-way point. Not putting up with that. On the rare occasions when I've forgotten, I've turned it off as soon as I realised. But I'll give it a try now.

Does it keep bleeping then? I guess I'll find out soon enough. (Maybe it's a safety thing, wake you up if you've drifted off?)

It beeps when you get too close to a line (or what it thinks is a line).

LKA together with TJA is "fun" though ... TJA in mine might sometimes tend to hug a lane line, so LKA beeps because you're too close to the lane line. 🤦‍♂️😂

As I said in the other thread, I went on a joy-ride on the same road I took when the car was new, and the LKA definitely wasn't driving me to distraction this time. A few beeps but very little pulling on the wheel at all, even when I turned the sensitivity up to high on the way back. And that was on a winding road where you tend to cross the centre line on the bends. My impression was that if the line wasn't terribly clear it was just ignoring it. I'm encouraged enough to omit the pre-flight check for now and see how I get on with it. If it doesn't misbehave it's probably better on than off. (Although I may still want to turn off the speed limit recognition, because it lies to me so often.)

I haven't tried the TJA, that's a joy for another day. At one point @Bricktop X PWR was talking about "hands-off" driving at some speed using the TJA on his X-Power, but you certainly couldn't have done that with mine. I'm going back to Sussex for a couple of days next month, so that will give me a chance to test it on the motorway. No doubt there will be a traffic jam or three.

The car fighting itself is quite frustrating. It really doesn't like it when it see dotted lines on the left on the motorway. TJA is like having a baby sitting in your lap jiggling steering wheel from side to side constantly, soon grows old (which is a shame as if it just let the car have more "wiggle" room in the lane would perform well enough.

That would depend if people have been complaining hard enough. I haven't heard the volume of complaints about that that I heard about the LKA.

We've just had this upgrade.
Apart from Alert Sensitivity there are two other settings.
Audible Warning and Vibration Reminder.
So if you turn both these off what does Lane Assistance actually do?
And both of these settings are remembered.

(And why have these not been mentioned so far in this extremely long thread?)

Audible warning always reverts to On for me ... that's what I referred to in post #384 above. (I've never changed vibration from default so can't say what happens there).

I checked ours half an hour ago. Both are remembered. Maybe we have different software versions?

Edit: no we both have R38.

Those options are there in R33 too but are not remembered. Maybe it’s a different update that makes them memorable

Both signals (sound and vibration) are part of the EU law about how LKA should work. And they should default to on at startup.

In Alert mode with both of, only the display will show you cross the markers. In LDWS mode, the car will also assist in correcting with the steering wheel.

I seem to have an issue I think is related to SC077. Prior to this I could toggle between ACC and TJA by pressing down on the left joystick. Now I can't. Anyone else noticed that?

Hi, that feature was never available. Pressing the left joystick assigns the current speed to the target for the acc.
Switching between acc/tja became as a long press of the wheel drive button and was not available before with shortcuts.
I wish they put something like that to switch between ACC and speed limiter as most of the cars do nowadays.

Cracks me up when the car tells itself off
