I’m an old fatty pensioner , so need an easy to operate unit and I doubt if I will ever go down the solar panel route but cheers for the advice
You can use the Cord with an app, but I don't, it's much easier without it, I just plug it in at both ends and it charges, no fuss or messing about with apps. Of course if you have to have it installed within public view, you're probably better off with the app, otherwise anybody else can plug in and use it.

I’m going to be on Scottish power ev tariff and have read to set up the charge time I have to do something about the percentage charge you require. Hopefully the ev installer will give me more info
Or I could always rely on the wise Gandalf like sages on the MGs5 forum 😜

Hi all , apologies if I'm repeating old threads but the ones I've looked at are from 2023 and as we know technology marches on.
Leasing a MGs5 due in 6 weeks so chasing up costs and advice on home chargers, untethered to use Scottish powers EV tariff..
Latest offer from EV heroes is£969 for an EclipseEc7s but have read a few write ups and it's not great. Ohme sounds good but
likes the octopus provider. Hypervolt home 3 pro looks good and I'm awaiting a quote . Any advice appreciated ,cheers
I have had a Hypervolt 2 coming up to 4 years in March. Never had a problem, and it works with my solar panels too.

Great , so my ohme pro charger is now installed . Took about 2 hours to fit with a separate surge protector and rcd . All good
I don’t have a vehicle yet so have plenty of time to research a good tariff . The installer did advise me to watch out for cheap tariffs from 12:00 to 5:00 am which look good but are more expensive than standard tariffs outside these times . I’m going to be a low mileage owner so have to weigh all things up !

I'm with E.on and a low mileage owner too. Their Next Drive tariff provides cheap electricity from midnight to 6am for the whole house so I load shift by using the timer on the washing machine and bread machine etc. to run during those hours.

Some of the EV tariffs require you to have a compatible charger and/or car so they can control the charging to suit themselves. Unfortunately at the moment MG aren't one of the compatible manufacturers.
