Finding elevation profile for a route

I never had the necessity to look at the elevation profile of a route unless I go on a bike ride. Now that I have an EV, I would like to analyze the elevation profile of different routes suggested by Apple/Google maps and choose one accordingly based on how economical it would be.
Do any of you know how I can see the elevation profile? In google maps, if I choose mode of transport as bike, then i can see it but it does change the route that it suggests for the car. Are there any other websites that shows this information?

The OP already says that selecting Bike allows elevation to be taken into account. And I'm not sure Google Earth works well as a satnav in Android Auto.

If I lot a route on ridewithgps it gives a good elevation profile but that's when I'm using it for a bike ride. It could be used for plotting a car route but probably would be a bit clunky.

Doesn’t show elevation, but if you tell Google maps you have an ev in the settings it will tell you the most economical route and show a percentage energy saving

I thought I had found that in the settings but AA still shows me the petrol stations rather than the EV chargers, and wants to take me the long way round to save 2 minutes driving.
