Maybe it's just me, but sometimes the app doesn't display some values after refreshing them (or, in terms of the inside temperature, it's usually a deprecated value). I think that's very annoying because if you just want to know how much range you've got left, the solution always was to refresh. If nothing happens, restart the app and refresh again, repeating as long as it takes to get the data. I don’t know why it's so difficult to just display the values when you actually just did a pull from the vehicle.

Last week, I came across a solution. It's far from perfect—MG should fix this—but as long as it takes them, this works quite well for me.
If you refresh and can't see the data again:

  1. Go to the vehicle status tab and do a refresh over here.
  2. Go back to the main page and refresh again. Now, in 9 out of 10 cases, you should see all the values.
Again, I have no idea why this works or why MG can't implement it themselves because I'm not using any dark magic here.

Hope this helps.

I lost all info from the app. It would only on occasions show the MG emblem when opening the app and that only on occasions.
Your suggestion to open the vehicle status tab would not work on this occasion as I was unable to display that part of the app.
I eventually deleted and then re-installed the app and most of the data re-appeared. The only thing missing at present is the battery status page (EV Management).
It continues to tell me the request timed out.
I've had the vehicle one month and this is the first time I've had a problem with the MG iSmart app.
I also find releasing the charging cable of my "Granny Charger" seems to be hit and miss. The cable appears to be locked in the vehicle until I have opened and closed doors a few times. I may not be giving the system sufficient time to release the cable but it appears to be another quirk of the vehicle.
Having said all of the above, I am loving my MG HEV Plug in hybrid.
Any positive suggestions on how to overcome the above "minor annoyances" would be greatly appreciated.
My thanks.

The issue might be related to the limited data volume provided by the MG SIM. As far as I know, MG vehicles come with a SIM that has only 1GB of data. If you stream music or use other data-heavy features, the remaining volume might not be sufficient for the vehicle to send all its data to your app, potentially as a way to conserve data.

You could try performing a reset on the vehicle. For the MG4, holding the home button performs a soft reset. If issues persist, check if there's a way to do a hard reset.

Regarding your charging port: When you unlock the vehicle, the port unlocks as well, but it re-locks if the cable isn’t pulled out within a certain timeframe. This might explain your issue if you’re taking too long to unplug the cable.

If the problems continue, I recommend visiting your MG dealer to have the software redeployed or checked for updates (you have a 7 year warranty).
