Fog Lights

Can anyone tell me a safer and more convenient way to switch on the fog lights than the ridiculously tiny button at the top left of the info screen. I find this both extremely difficult to do when driving and somewhat dangerous.

As far as I’m aware that is the only way to turn your fog lights on or off.

Unfortunately that ridiculously tiny button is your only option mate, but I've found if you rest your fingers on the top of the screen to steady your hand, and press the button with your thumb, it's easy enough.

How often are fog lights legally needed. I think I have only needed to switch it on twice in nearly two years of ownership so I don't mind having a small switch that's out of the way and doesn't take up much room.

There's another button in my pull down menu, but that's more work than the little one in the corner, open menu, stab at button a couple of times to get it to work, close menu.
If you have one of the fancy models, there might be a voice command for it?

The rear lights on the MG4 are quite bright anyway, so the fog light (single, rear only) is somewhat redundant really.

It looks like MG have missed a trick there. If you're going to reduce the number of physical controls for the less important functions, then a comprehensive voice control system would keep many happy and it would only be a one off cost for each language not a cost per car.

Unfortunately, not only is the list of things it can do small, the phrases required can be quite specific and also inconsistent, so most people probably only use it a little.

For example people may say Fan or Blower or Air speed to mean the same thing - all should be allowed. The worst example is they want you to say up/down for some commands increase/decrease for others, or somtimes raise/lower can be used.

Nothing clever needs to be done, just having a longer list would do.

Does infrequent use mitigate the potential danger then ?

If you can pull down the quick menu, it's a bigger button and easier to reach.

I still feel it risky taking my eyes off the road for a split second in a 'pea super' or sudden fog bank and wonder if it were possible to fit a separate switch it would invalidate the seven year Warranty or increase it's devaluation ?

Maybe he's one of those that puts fog lights on at the first sign of drizzle.

That all depends where you live as to how often you need to use them. I live near a particularly persistent fog bank area of coastline in south east Kent that comprises a motorway with limitless arctics thundering along to and from Dover docks, where you'd be insanely suicidal not to use them.

Surely that's dangerous and illegal ? It doesn't sound much different to forgetting to switch off your rear fogs.

I suspect it is more to do with lazy software designers not moving the location for left and right hand drive cars. For a left hand drive car the fog light button is pretty convenient on the top left of the centre screen

Make sure to flick your lights off automatic when using fog lights too or they may not stay on / come on at all (icon deilluminates)
