I hate the idea of the bottle of tire-destroying-gloop as being my way home in the event of a puncture. In my previous car (Nissan Qashqai) I pulled out that polystyrene former from under the boot and bought a full sized wheel to go under there (it fit, just) and although I never needed it in five years it made me feel better...
Anyway, thinking of doing the same thing with the MG4 and wondered if anyone had gone down that road? Is there enough room under the boot floor? I also notice that there is a cable-loom that comes through the section of polystyrene former that holds the compressor/gloop-bottle.

I’m with you. I managed to get a full size wheel after much discussions with my local tyre store. I removed the foam and was able to fit the tyre compressor/ tin of goop, scissor Jack and wheel lug remover. Just got a socketed straight one. These fit quite nicely in the space where the foam was all wrapped up in a towel to keep them seperate.

For the tyre I got a wheel bag and I keep it either in the boot or behind the front passenger seat depending on what I need the car for.

Apart from the weird little app issues or still not knowing how to use the heater properly lol it’s my biggest bug bear with with car which I otherwise love.

Here's a video of a guy who has done a decent job of it...
It's a space saver spare but it's as good a job as I've seen.

Personally I use the Braumach spare in a bag and only put it in the car when I'm going on a long trip into the country, but I do keep tyre repair plugs in the boot all the time, along with the other incidentals I like to carry.

Do you have a trophy or SE?

(The bio no longer indicants the model of car, unfortunately.)

You would have a much harder job in the SE with the LFP battery because there is a tiny amount of space under the boot floor.

I bought a VW spacesaver (ex-tiguan or something) and it has just been sitting in its cardboard box in the boot.

I also got a tyre cover for if I ever get it out of the box and need to cover the tyre to keep other things in the boot clean.

Hoping never to use it, obviously, but we have two tyres lost to screws already in 18 months (luckily in both cases the car was drivable to the local tyre emporium).
