Has anyone managed to switch on A/C remotely?

It's a very frosty morning and I decided to try out the remote heating option using the iSmart iOS appl. But after several attempts I have given up. None of the options work, seat heating, windscreen heating, A/C control. I've tried remotely locking/unlocking the car but nothing fixes it.

Instead, all I get is this rather bafflingly mistranslated error message.

Any ideas? Have any of you managed to get this feature to work? Doesn’t seem there’s a whole lot of point in having a remote control that you have to actually go outside and start the car before you can use it!!

Just tried mine and I get a different fail message 'Please ensure in P gear(33)' had this before and it went away, but it appears its back again.

You do have to be patient between selecting something and waiting for the car to respond with a "Success" message. If you stab at the app to select multiple things quickly then it doesn't help.

Mine has worked flawlessly for about 18 months since I had a raft of software updates on the car to address another issue.

I use it all the time and have had no issues with my MG S5. Not sure what the issue is. I use the Android version

Not had any issues this week. Only time I have a problem is if the car has not been used for more than 24 hours and goes into deep sleep mode, but that can be cured with an unlock and lock from the key fob from inside the house.

It's something that can be done with Home Assistant.
This means you can create some complex automations.
My other half goes swimming in a lake most mornings. I have an automation that knows when she arrives there, waits for a few minutes then sends a command to the car to run its 10 minute heating, waits for a minute and then repeats this. It only does this if the exterior temperature is below 10 degrees.
She really appreciates getting back into a warm car :)

Worked fine for me this morning. I have to wake the car properly by doing the "scan" (second icon, the shield with a heartbeat) after that I switched on the defrost, rear window heater, and drivers seat heater ok.

If I'm using the Ohme app to charge and select 'Ready by' 6.00am and turn 'Cabin preconditioning' on 30m, will this effectively start the AC at 5.30am? without the need for the iSmart app?

Mine worked yesterday afternoon - twice. When I came to try it again in the evening I got that same message. 🤷‍♂️ (I had to go out to the car and start it manually).

I've tried the app again just now and it worked.

You need to use the iSmart app - MG do not allow third parties to use the car API. The Ohme will just keep the power switched on for you to use if you wish.

I wasn’t sending multiple requests. I got that error message the first time I tried to switch on A/C

Yes. I tried unlock and lock a few times with the key fob, but it didn’t fix it.

By the sound of most of your replies, I guess there must be a fault on my car.

Thanks everyone

I haven't used mine since the 1st of November but it worked fine then.
