On ECO+ it will maintain a minimum of 1.4kW by adding grid power to the solar. You can set the maximum amount of grid as a percentage. So if the CT clamp detects you are sending 1.9kW to the grid it will divert that to the car, if a cloud comes over and your excess drops to 900W then it will add 500W grid power so long as you have the percentage green to at least 50% to keep the charge going. If however you put the kettle on it will pause the charge until the excess is restored. Not usually an issue except when you want a continuous charge or the car rejects the charge if it stops and starts too often in a period of time. If you use just ECO then it is the same as setting the green percentage to 0, that it will supply at least 1.4Kw up to your excess going to the grid. Not having FIT, I don't really understand how it works that you'd end up using peak-rate power, but I hear it's a great deal if you managed to get it.
